A Message from Mrs. Caudill
I came across this article (button below) a couple of weeks ago. The scenario the author describes is something I have heard from countless parents over the years. "Why does my child meltdown after-school? They go to school happy, say they love school and the teacher reports no issues. But, after school, they are a wreck."
The short answer is because they love you and you are their safe person. Going to school is hard work. There is a lot expected of our little people. And even though Northville realizes the importance of recess and brain breaks and provides more time than most districts, it is still hard to stay focused on the task of learning throughout the day.
Over the years as I have learned how to parent my son, I have learned how to be a better mom. This article provides some tips and tricks that I learned through trial and error to avoid "The Meltdown". I hope you find some benefit in the authors suggestions. I know I did!
Stay Well,
Devon Caudill

Don’t Scrap the App!
Completing the Application for Summer EBT and Education Benefits for Michigan School Meals Program may result in important resources for your student such as Summer EBT, fee waivers, and resources for classrooms! The Michigan School Meals program supplements the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program, meaning that parents of students who would otherwise be eligible for free or reduced meals should continue to submit applications for free or reduced meals for their students. Even though meals will be free this year, it is vitally important that parents who meet, or believe they may meet, the free and reduced income guidelines, submit an application to ensure maximum benefits for their students and the District. Some of these benefits include: athletics and activities discounts for student fees associated with participating in athletics and activities programs, SAT/ACT/AP test discounts for academic testing, college application discounts for college application fees, discounted internet access services, federal/state/local school funding for school budgets, Summer EBT.

A message from Mrs. Chenoweth
We're off to a great start in our STEAM classes this year! Students are already diving into some great projects, and we need your help! Our Maker Carts are always in need of some supplies to keep it stocked. While we have almost all of what the students need, there are some great additions and donations that we will gladly accept any time:
- empty toilet paper and paper towel rolls (We use SO many of these!)
- bottle caps
- buttons
- beads
- fabric scraps
- ribbon
- miscellaneous craft materials
- plastic recyclables (yogurt containers, medicine bottles, etc)
- anything else you think kids can be creative with!
Please send these items in at any time during the school year in a bag labeled STEAM. Your child can drop it off in our classroom or the office. Thank you so much for your help - we love seeing how creative our students can be!
