BOYS SOCCER
On Monday the boys soccer team traveled to the Blueberry Capital of the World to take on the Blue Devils of Hammonton. In a much anticipated rematch, the Eagles soared to a dominating victory with a 4 nil shutout. The Blue Devils were seeking an invite to the CAL playoffs with a victory, but the Eagles had other plans. Senior Matthew Sanchez had the game winner early in the first half. Senior Ryan Evenson netted his second hat trick of the season with three highlight reel goals. Junior Giancarlo Saparito made four impressive saves for the shoutout.
On Wednesday the boys soccer team hit the road again, this time headed to Millville, home of Mike Trout. This would prove to be showdown among Division rivals with power points and playoff indications on the line. Once again, the Eagles scored first and never looked back. Senior
Matthew Sanchez was responsible for the first goal and the Eagles defense along with goalie Giancarlo Saparito played stellar to record their second straight shutout.
With two huge wins on the road the Eagles punched their ticket to their third straight CAL playoff game. The Eagles are seeded #5 in the CAL playoff and will travel to #4 Ocean City on Saturday @ 10am. The Eagles hope to continue to be road warriors and advance with a first round victory.

Tuesday, October 10th, the Fernwood Cross Country team traveled to take on William Davies. The team took on the challenge of running a new course and came away with a fantastic overall performance.
The boys team won with a score of 22 to 37. Remember the lowest score wins in cross country.
Our team took 4 of the top 5 spots. Brayden Widas the boys top performer in 2nd, Ryan Cooke in 3rd, Martin Rodriguez in 4th, and Eason Lassiter in 5th. Connor Adderley and Jeremy Cooke came in 7th and 8th to secure the win. Jack McDevitt also had a fantastic sprint finish to top off a new personal best time.
The girls secured the first 4 spots and got the win as well. 19 to 36.
Molly Rooney locked in another 1st place finish running most of the race entirely by herself. Neena Peter came in 2nd, Kacey Denning 3rd, and Emma Baird 4th. These three girls worked hard to overcome a wrong turn on the course to maintain their positions. A sprint finish for 9th by Lily Tosh secured the win for the girls.

The Fernwood Girls Soccer team played a hard-fought game against Alder at the Pride Festival on Saturday, playing to a 1-1 tie in a very competitive game. After falling behind late, the team battled back to tie it with only a few minutes left. Kylie Lambert scored the lone goal for Fernwood with less than three minutes left in the game. Great game girls, way to fight all the way until the end.
