Mountain View Weekly Update

- For each month of the NFL season, Mountain View will recognize a student who demonstrates upstander qualities such as leadership, compassion, courage, and assertiveness. The "Upstander of the Month" will receive a t-shirt and 2 tickets to a NY Jets home game. For the month of November, Mountain View is pleased to recognize seventh grader Emily Rooney. Congratulations!

- Marking period 1 grades will be posted to the Parent Portal this afternoon. Students in grades 6-8 achieving a 92% or above across all courses (Related Arts included) will be awarded Principal's Honor Roll. Students in grades 6-8 who achieve a 90% or above in their core classes (Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science) will earn Honor Roll.

- Another reminder to parents: The staff parking lots are not to be used for drop-off and pick-up. Administration has asked for increase presence from the Mendham Borough Police to monitor both lots. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

- Although there is no cost, please be reminded that student lunches must be pre-ordered using the form posted to the Mountain View website. While no student will be denied a lunch, failure to order ahead places unnecessary strain on Ms. Wiggins, who is responsible for preparing daily lunches. On Monday, November 8, 25 additional lunches that were not ordered were prepared. On behalf of the Pomptonian staff, your support is appreciated.

Happy Friday Mountain View! Today was an Advisory day. The students had class discussions about gratitude, how we can show gratitude, and things in our lives that make us grateful. Students also discussed how we can use our gratitude to pay it forward and spread kindness to others. Our Advisory activity today involved writing kind cards to staff expressing our gratitude for them.

As we move into the second marking period and are officially back in the full swing of school, please take a moment to read "Finding a Good Place to Study," about finding a productive work space for completing homework at home to help the second marking period start off on a high note. Ask your students what type of environment they think they produce the best work in, help them to create a place at home conducive to studying and free from distractions. Enjoy your weekend!
