Mountain View Weekly Update
January 29
Announcements & Updates
- To ensure efficient communication with appropriate individuals, please adhere to the chain of command when communicating health-related concerns about your child. Specifically:
- Concerns regarding COVID symptoms and/or exposure, including scheduled testing or the need to quarantine, should be communicated by parents/guardians to both Mrs. Austenberg and Mrs. Toth (not to your child's classroom teachers).
- Information will be relayed to the appropriate staff by administration.
- To avoid the spread of misinformation, should you have questions, please contact Mrs. Toth and/or Mrs. Austenberg directly to discuss your concerns.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation as we work to ensure accurate information is shared in a timely matter with those who need it.
- A friendly reminder that students who are in-seat and absent for personal reasons, such as travel, appointments, and other personal matters, are not permitted to participate virtually. While exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances, all requests are to be directed in advance to Mrs. Toth.
- The Mendham Borough Police Department has increased their monitoring of Mountain Avenue during dismissal. Parents are reminded that while the street can be used for pick-up, students must utilize crosswalks. Further, u-turns are not permitted. Those who do not adhere to procedures will be subject to citation.
- Reminders for 8th grade parents:
- Register your child for Mendham High School by this Sunday, January 31. Please refer to the instructions sent to your home address from the West Morris Regional High School District. Note: We have most students' birth certificates on file. Do not send one unless you have been contacted by Mrs. Mott.
- Today is the deadline to request an appointment to schedule your child's freshman classes. Please carefully review the contents of the email from Mrs. Toth and Mrs. Lanka, sent Wednesday, January 20, as it contains important information regarding high school scheduling conferences.
- Marking period 2 grades will be posted to the Parent Portal on Friday, February 5.
- It's not too late to join the HSA! Visit https://mendhamhsa.membershiptoolkit.com/home to become a member and purchase the 2020-2021 directory. To purchase spirit wear, click here to shop the online store. Check out the new Mendham Borough School District logo apparel.
A note from Mrs. Lanka
When Mrs. Toth shared this wonderful 44-second video on "TOOMUCHERY" with me, I knew it would be a perfect introduction for an Advisory lesson on coping with stress. I joined Mrs. Magrini's 8th graders this week for an amazing discussion on where/how our students feel stress in their bodies (i.e., racing heart, head/stomach-ache, tense muscles, tiredness, etc,) and how we can use deep breathing, visualization, calming music, and exercise to help us cope - see the Calm links below to try out some of these strategies for yourself! Consider having a conversation with your child about which coping skill might work best for them when it all becomes "TOOMUCHERY." :)
