Dear Parents / Carers,
It has been another busy week at Kirk Fenton. Despite the continuing coughs and colds, we have been really impressed at the great work children have done this week. Thank you for sending your children with gloves, hats and warm coats in this cold weather; it means children have continued to enjoy their time outside, without wishing they were back in the warmth!
This week saw our first school trip of the year, with Seacole class spending Thursday at the Yorkshire Air Museum. They had a great time finding out about the history of aviation and came back to school full of their new knowledge. Next week, Thunberg are going to Skipton castle for the day, the following week Y6 are heading to the North Yorkshire Moors for a week of activities, and the next week 60 children from KS2 will be travelling to Sheffield for the Young Voices concert. It is always lovely when children get wider experiences out of school.
A new feature in school this week has been a suggestion box, that children are able to add their thoughts and ideas to about things we can do to make their time at Kirk Fenton as good as it can be. The children have already made very good use of this option to have a voice about their school, and have been queueing up to add their suggestions! I have been so impressed with how carefully considered and sensible their ideas are, and am looking forward to sharing with them the changes we are able to make thanks to their great ideas.
Have a lovely weekend.

Message from Head Pupils
This week Seacole has been on a school trip to the air museum. From all accounts they had a fantastic time. Year 4 has done some outdoor learning, which they undoubtedly enjoyed, despite the cold weather! Other than that it’s been a quiet week, have a good weekend!
Head pupil awards go to Henri (Y6) and Maddison (YR).

Seacole Class Trip
Year 2 had an incredible time at the Yorkshire Air Museum learning lots about flight and how people tried to fly. We looked around the museum and learned lots about the different planes. We even got to sit in one!

We've started planning events and activities for this term, keep a look out for more details of events and how to book next week.
World Book Day: outfit swap shop. Have you got any old fancy dress outfits? Why not donate them to the swop shop for World Book Day. We're collecting outfits no longer wanted before half term, and will hold a donations shop when school re-opens. More details to follow next week.
Readathon: following the success of the Readathon in the past two years, we'll be holding this again in the run up to World Book Day. Forms will be sent home in book bags with all details.
Curry & Quiz night: and one for the parents and friends, the Curry and Quiz Night will return on Friday 8th March. We're hoping to be ready to sell tickets next week, so get planning your quiz team and swotting up on your otherwise useless facts.
