The First Day of School

Thank you all for a great first day of school! It was so good to see everyone.

The admin team kicked off the day by visiting each classroom to introduce or re-introduce ourselves. Seeing classrooms full of eager learners once again was more joyful than you can imagine. We have truly missed our Kiker Comets!

We want to thank you for your patience and grace as we learn new systems. Your kindness and support mean the world to us.

Arrival and Dismissal

We are examining our arrival/dismissal procedures and considering adjustments to help it run more smoothly. We know the first day is always more hectic than the rest of the year and strive to find the safest and most efficient plan possible.

As a reminder, visitors are not allowed in the building. Thank you for saying your goodbyes outside!

Ipad and Chromebook Distribution - Plans are Coming Soon

Our staff began the iPad and Chromebook distribution today. Third graders received their new Chromebooks, and Kindergartners received their iPads. We are working throughout the week to finish distribution for students new to Kiker or those who never received a device. We expect to be finished by Friday.

All virtual learners should have received an email with information about device pick up on Monday.

You will be assisting the amazing front office staff by answering the door and phone, escorting students to class, making classroom deliveries and more.

2021-22 Bus Information

2021-22 Bus information

Families whose students are eligible for transportation will receive their bus information by email or letter on Aug 3. The district’s “Bus Stop Finder '' will be live on Aug 3. Families whose students have special needs will receive their information in person from their bus teams starting the second week of August.

“WheresTheBus” App for Families

AISD’s transportation team offers families the “WheresTheBus” app, which provides timely information about the location of their student’s bus, including when it will arrive at their stop.

The free app is available on any device with internet access (smartphone, tablet, personal computer, iPad)—and takes less than five minutes to install. Instructions are available at https://www.austinisd.org/transportation.

School Hours 2021-2022

The following start and end times will be implemented across AISD campuses:

Elementary School Hours of Instruction: 7:40 am – 3:10 pm

Kiker will open its doors at 7:15 am daily.

After School Programs

For information on after school childcare and programs, visit our website. As new organizations get approved, we will update our page.

Families of Students Who Receive Special Education Support

We would like to invite all parents/caregivers of children who receive support through SPED and/or 504 services to join our caregiver support group on Facebook. This is a supportive group where you can ask questions, take part in educational and supportive programming, and connect with other parents.
