Exemptions
Exemption time is coming up soon. On Tuesday, Dec. 7th during CHAT, students will either receive their exemption card or a bill detailing fines they still owe. They will have until Tuesday, Dec. 14th to clear up any fines they still have.
All students must take finals in all classes unless:
● Must have an 85 average or above to exempt
● Accelerated and Honors, AP, Dual Credit, On-Ramps points can be added
● The student has perfect attendance AND a 70 average or above average in the class the student wishes to exempt (can only be used for one class)
Please note, students will LOSE exemption status due to any of the following:
● The student has outstanding debt (students will have the ability to pay debts to gain exemption)
● The student has four or more tardies in the class the student wants to exempt
● The student has four or more absences in the class the student wants to exempt or one or more unexcused absence (U-U) in the class a student wants to exempt
- Covid related absences do not count against students when it relates to exemptions
What is an Unexcused Absence?
- the high school attendance office has no record from a parent/guardian for why the student did not attend a class.
- attendance office staff makes attempts to contact a parent/guardian when a U-U has been recorded. If unable to reach a parent/guardian, the absence remains a U-U.
Key to Help When Checking Absences in Skyward
Covid Related Absences (do not count against exemptions)
Unexcused (lose ability to exempt for each class that a U-U is recorded)
No more than three absences for any period the student wants to exempt
