MST Weekly Update
December 15, 2023

Good afternoon to all of our MST family members.
Next week is the last school week of 2023 and the week before vacation (Dec 23-Jan. 1). It will also be spirit week with a theme every day. Monday: PJ Day (school appropriate), Tuesday-Santa's Workshop Day (dress as a character that you would find in Santa's workshop), Wednesday-Winter Wonderland (wear blue and white), Thursday-Night Out in New York (dress in fancy clothes) and Friday-Ugly Holiday Outfit.
Finally, for today, the image in this section references the Manchester School District's Portrait Of A Graduate as defined in the Community Plan for Manchester's schools. More information will be shared with parents and students as we go through the year so that everyone understands what we want for our students.
This information about Tutor.com was shared with all students earlier this week. This is a great opportunity for our students.
Do you wish you had access to a tutor to help explain a problem to you when you are working at home? Would you like someone to check over an essay for you before you turn it in? Would you like some assistance preparing for the upcoming SAT exam so that you can do very well on it? Maybe you just have a question about an assignment that you need answered before you can move on. Well, now you can have access to a tutor 24 hours per day/7 days per week through Tutor.com
Tutor.com provides on demand tutoring, SAT preparation, essay reviews, college planning and more. And the best part is that it is FREE!
All Manchester students can access Tutor.com through their Clever account. The service is completely free. The links below will give you information to get started.
Please feel free to take advantage of this opportunity whenever you need to.
CTE Updates
This week, Fire Science started their review of all the modules covered throughout the school year, including ventilation, forcible entry, and SCBa. Today was the review of fire behavior and flow paths. The MST Carpentry students built a doll house to demonstrate flow paths and today the class let it burn.
Last week, they spent most of the week off campus at other training sites working on search and rescue techniques in zero visibility. The photos show what they look like through the screen of a thermal imaging camera. Then they spent the day at the Fire Academy on car and building fires.
Students in Ms. Dobmeier's Criminal Justice program have been studying the judicial system and they finished off the unit by staging some mock trials in the class. Students were inspired and dove into 3 Mock Trials involving all areas of the Court System! Professor Michael Raymond ESQ. NHTI PRESIDED over the cases as students from other classes became our jurors. The students took on every role with professionalism! The research needed for each case was outstanding!!
Students in the Criminal Justice and Health Sciences programs worked this week on becoming CPR certified.
And, in the holiday spirit, the Grinch stopped by to visit the Cosmetology salon.
NHS Clothing Drive
The National Honor Society will be collecting winter clothing for those students who may be in need of warm items. All items of clothing can be dropped off in room B135.
