The student's name that will be in the yearbook is the name that is listed as his/her/their "legal" name.
If your child prefers a different name, you can email Ryan.wiggins@fwafa.org and let her know to change it for the yearbook. Your child can also let the yearbook helpers or the photographer know, and we will change it on the notecards they hold up while taking their picture.
3rd-11th grade will be photographed in their school uniforms. No sweatshirts or fleece jackets allowed in pictures.
12th graders - these are your silly pictures for ID's only. You can wear whatever you want, including hats, etc. You must be in dress code the remainder of the day.

Mrs. Reese, our elementary/middle school counselor, will facilitate the first few lessons to establish community within the classroom. From there, teachers will take over facilitating the lessons.
All of the SEL lessons are aligned with the CASEL framework that includes lessons on Self Awareness, Self Management, Responsible Decision Making, Relationship Skills, and Social Awareness.
After-School Conservatory Classes
TCA+A offers after school classes in Dance, Music, and Visual Arts that provide a great way for your student to add to their artistic training. Classes happen after school on both the TeSA and FWAFA campuses.

Safety Drills
Under state law, Texas schools are required to conduct a minimum of ten safety drills per school year:
- One secure drill
- Two lockdown drills (one per semester)
- One evacuation drill
- One shelter-in-place for hazmat drill
- One shelter-in-place for severe weather drill
- A minimum of four fire safety drills (at least two per semester, or more if recommended by the local fire safety marshal)
We had our first fire drill today, and I am so proud of our students. Everyone followed directions well and remained on Code 1 throughout the drill. We were able to evacuate the building in 3 minutes and 43 seconds. Our goal is to evacuate the building in 3 minutes or less. Way to go, FWAFA!
Next week, we will have a lock-down drill. Lockdown is used when there is a threat inside the school building. For example, a wrong person entered, a weapon report, or something worse such as an armed intruder or some other threat inside the building.
We use the Standard Response Protocol from the I Love You Guys Foundation. It is based on five actions that we take during an incident or an emergency. These are Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter. Each action is followed by a directive. Every action then has specific instructions of what to do in an emergency.
We will talk to students during assembly and in class about what a lockdown drill is and its purpose in a developmentally appropriate way using the materials from the I Love You Guys Foundation.
If you have questions about the drills, please email jennifer.jackson@fwafa.org.
Attendance Notes to attendance@fwafa.org
If your student is tardy or absent, please send notes to attendance@fwafa.org. Also, a student needs to bring in a doctor or parent note within 3 days after the absence for an unexcused absence.
