A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Tomorrow Mrs. Arsenault and I are presenting two different student assemblies for students and staff only in K-2 and 3-4 on "School talk." These assemblies will allow us to establish a common language around the importance of talk that makes sense in school versus the talk that might get us into "trouble" with adults or our friends. We are holding two assemblies in an effort to target the developmental needs of the students. In grades K-2, "school talk" will be identified as "red" (you might STOP and think about these words before you say them) and "green" (these are safe words to say at school). In grades 3 and 4, we will talk about "school talk" versus "trouble talk." At both assemblies, we will teach the students about "power phrases." Power Phrases help our students understand the importance of positive self-talk and empower them to speak out to adults when things are or may seem unsafe or uncomfortable.
We strive to ensure all of our students feel safe and comfortable in school. The words and conversations shared at RES should be kind, respectful and help others feel good about themselves. Assemblies like tomorrow's will be designed to empower our students and staff to make positive and healthy choices for themselves and the community around them.
Thank you for your support,
Michelle Pitts and Lori Arsenault
Environmental Club: GRADES 2-4
Do you love our environment? Do you want to help others learn how to decrease their carbon footprint? Do you want to work with others who have similar passions? Join Ms. Murphy in the RES Environmental Club if you want to be a part of making a difference. We will be doing everything “green” and working in the outdoor classroom; exploring, building, and creating.
We will meet 2 Mondays each month (see dates below) from 2:45 - 3:45 pm. Students should bring a snack and be prepared with boots and outdoor gear (appropriate for the weather). Pick up will be at the Leaping Lizards side of the school at 3:45 pm. (We are doing this to avoid confusion with ASE dismissal.) Four students from each grade (2-4), will be randomly picked from all the submissions for that grade. (12 total) Those parents will be notified via email.
Please fill in the attached parent permission form if your child is interested and return to your child’s homeroom teacher by Friday, October 7, 2022.
