ALL POSITIVE - ALL ATHLETICS - ALL EAGLES - OCTOBER 2022
A Message From The Athletic Director
One thing that I am very proud of this past month is the communication I received from two different groups of officials. Typically, when I communicate with or about officials, it has to do with a bad call or a negative incident that took place during a game. The two compliments I received were regarding our volleyball and our football program. One officials crew approached me and let me know that they absolutely love officiating Linden Volleyball games because they know the athletes and the coaches are going to treat them with respect and class when they come to our school. Another crew approached me at halftime of a varsity football game and shared with me that our sidelines were extremely respectful and he didn't want that to go unnoticed. Neither one of these conversations surprised me, but it was still nice to hear. Whether you are a player, parent, or a fan, please follow the lead of these programs and treat officials with respect. It is easy to yell and scream and act like we all know what we are talking about, but it is hard to be an official especially when people are screaming at you while you try to do your job. Remember, you are representing more than yourself if you are playing or just sitting in the stands--you represent our whole community. Keep that in mind!
Good luck to our teams still competing in the fall season and good luck to all winter athletes as you prepare for try-outs for the winter season! Go Eagles!
Enjoy!

A Message From the Questers
A big shoutout to Ms. Rosa Spannagel. You saved the day!!! Without your quick action and response to the needs of the Linden community our fundraiser would have never ran as smoothly.
Last year we were encouraged to use the Linden High School students for this and future fundraisers. At the last minute we found ourselves in a less than stellar situation. That is why we are so grateful to Ms. Brindles' emergency call to action which lead to Ms. Spannagel's involvement. A sincere thank you for both of your quick responses during our time of need.
Thank you again and I wish you success this school year.

FML Leadership Summit
"The biggest takeaway I had from today was the importance of a positive presence because not only will it effect you, but it is contagious to your teammates. It is important to be positive vocally, but more importantly with body language and how you carry yourself.' - Shaye Barkholz
"The Biggest lesson or advice I took from the Summit was ELM. It stood for Effort, Learning, and Mistakes. I tend to struggle with forgiving myself after I miss a shot or make a minor mistake during a game. This ends up impacting me negatively throughout the game or competition. With the ELM strategy, it really changes your mentality about mistakes. You have to change your perspective about a mistake, and instead of getting upset, you use it to your advantage and learn from it. This is a strategy I intend to use during games or competitions from here on out because it will help me get better, become a better teammate, and overall become a better leader." - Blaise Gooding
