MST Weekly Update
January 26, 2024

Good afternoon to all of our MST family members.
Today is the end of the 2nd quarter of the school year. Grades will be calculated and posted early next week, and report cards will likely be out by next Friday. This time you should start seeing some 2s for competency grades which indicates that progress is being made in your child's classes.
Seniors and juniors who have late arrival or early release, will have that privilege rescinded if they are not on track to meet competency in classes that are required for graduation. If that happens, they will be scheduled into an additional section of class with the teacher they owe work to. When they are back on track, late arrival/early dismissal will be reinstated.
FAFSA Workshop
On Thursday, February 22nd, Granite Edvance will be at MST to assist students with filling out their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid.) Filling out the FAFSA is a graduation requirement so this is a great chance to work with someone who is a FAFSA expert. They will be here from 9am to 1pm.
Please see Ms. Wheeler or Mrs. Tetu if you would like to sign up and schedule a time to meet with Granite Advance.
Please Note: You need to complete your FAFSA ID prior to filling out the FAFSA. If you do not know how till fill out the FAFSA ID please see myself or Mrs. Tetu for instructions. Parents or Guardians: There is a parent section of the FAFSA in addition to the student section. If you would like to come in and work with Granite Edvance while your student is working with them, you are welcome to come in and do so. Please let Ms. Wheeler or Mrs. Tetu know if you would like to join. Their contact information is below:
Mrs. Tetu - jtetu@mansd.org 603-624-6490 ext. 2124

In addition to the event taking place at MST, the community colleges are also offering several opportunities for families to receive help filling out the FASFA. Please feel free to attend any one of these events if you would like to receive some assistance. Registration is now open for time slots between 2:00 and 8:00pm. As always, this is a no-cost event. Families will need to register for a time slot and read the confirmation email closely to be prepared to file.

Course Selection for 2024-25
All 9th, 10th and 11th grade students will be selecting their classes for next year. Teachers will be making recommendations to help guide their course selections. All 9th graders will be selecting the Career and Technology Education (CTE) program that they wish to be in for the next two years. A student must successfully complete 9th grade to be enrolled in a CTE.
The course catalog for the district will be available soon. You can see all of the CTE programs that we have at MST on our website (Career & Technical | Manchester School of Technology (mansd.org).
Access Academy
Marine Biology, Introduction to Photography, Introduction to Computer Technology, and Creative Writing are just a few of the courses available to MST students who enroll at Access Academy.
Access Academy is an after-school program at St. Anselm College designed for high school students to gain confidence in their skills and abilities, make new friends, experience a college campus, learn from college students, and earn high school credits. Access Academy is open to Manchester high school students! Classes, dinner, and transportation to and from campus are all provided at no cost to students.
Classes are offered on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Students can sign up for one day or both days. Access Academy classes run from approximately 4:15 pm until 6:00 pm on each day. All classes take place at the Saint Anselm College campus. Classes start on February 5th and end on of May 6th. A full schedule of the semester can be found on the page below.
Buses will pick up students after school between 3:45 pm and 4:00 pm and bring them to the Saint Anselm College campus. At 6:00 pm, students will board the bus at Saint Anselm College and be dropped off at West, Central or Memorial between approximately 6:15 and 6:30 PM
The completed application (below) must be turned in to Ms. Stephen by Monday January 29th. Space is limited in the classes, so act quickly!
8th Grade/CTE Open House
On Thursday February 8th, we will holding our annual open house for any 8th grade student, and their parents/guardians, who is interested in attending MST High School next year.
This evening is also the open house to come and visit our Career and Technology Education (CTE) programs. The event is for any 9th or 10th grade student from any Manchester high school as well as Bedford, Goffstown and Londonderry. It is an opportunity for students to see the classrooms, meet the teachers and ask questions that will help them to decide which 2-year program is best for them.
The open house will be from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. We hope to see many of you there.
Winter Weather Update
The Manchester School District announces closures and delays on WMUR-TV, 95.7 WZID and it sends out direct text messages. If there is a 2-hour delay, MST's day begins at 9:50 AM with all students reporting to Advisory for attendance. Period A high school classes and Block 1 CTE classes are cancelled. Students will report to Period B1/Block 2 at 10:00.
Whenever school is cancelled, we return to the day that was missed. For example, this past Tuesday was supposed to be a Blue day, but we had a snow day. When we returned on Wednesday, we came back to a Blue day and then the rotation continues as normal. By doing this, we never miss too many of the same color day.
