Classroom Happenings
ELA- Ms. Kraushaar
This week, we read the delightfully strange short story “Lose Now, Pay Later” and asked the very important question: was it the aliens?!
But seriously, the story deals with the idea that something might just be too good to be true. Students wrote an opinion response to the story.
And next week is our last week! Look for some summer reads recommendations from me.
Science- Mrs. Tobey
This week, students got an intro into what is changing the climate. They also learned what they can do to help stop it and participated in a flipgrid discussion board.
Next week, students will be doing a cardboard boat engineering design activity. So save your cereal/food boxes!
I would love to see as many students as I can on Wednesday’s Zoom classes to say farewell and play some fun games!
Social Studies- Mr. Cahn
This week was a focus on how three West African kingdoms harnessed the power of natural resources and became successive trade empires that lasted for a combined 1000 years, while an important city Timbuktu became a great center of culture and learning.
Next week will be a bit artsy/craftsy to wrap up our journey into the Middle Ages, with Kente Cloth designs from West Africa and a brief dip into Japanese culture and art.
