Shout-Outs

  • Shout-out to our Freshmen of the Week from last week! Ariana White comes to us from the Academy for Academics and Arts Middle School. Here at Lee, she is a part of the Visual Arts Magnet. In her free time, she enjoys working at Publix and watching True Crime. After graduating from Lee, she wants to go to college and pursue a degree in psychology so that she can become a therapist. Her favorite teacher so far is Ms. Renaud because she was really helpful and her class was fun. She plans to take African American studies next year so she can have her again. Rocky Lovell comes to us from Chapman Middle School. He loves art and plans to be in the Visual Arts Magnet next year. In his free time, he enjoys watching YouTube. After graduating from Lee, he wants to become a manga or comic book artist or animator. His favorite teachers so far are Ms. Thompson because she was nice and laid back and let him read what he wanted and Ms. Renaud because she was kind. Congratulations to both of them for living out our #FamiLEE values so well!
  • Congratulations to our Theatre Teacher Mr. Carter for being chosen as the 2022-2023 Lee High School Teacher of the Year!!!!!

  • Shout-out to the JV Boys and Varsity Girls Basketball Teams for defeating Mae Jemison last week!

Magnet Corner

Celebrations

  • Congratulations to the 5 Lee High School students who were finalists in the District Superintendent's Art Show on Tuesday! Only 10 students were selected from the Secondary Category to move to state and 5 of those students are currently in Lee's Visual Arts or Photography Magnet! Congratulations to Maia Bennett (10th grade, Visual Arts), Lucky Keutemeyer (12th grade, Photography), Sheryfat Osinboyejo (11th grade, Visual Arts), Nadia Smith (11th grade, Photography), and Maddie Turner (12th grade, Visual Arts). Their work is going to the State Superintendent's Art Show at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery to compete against other art students across the state and they will get to attend a reception in Montgomery with the State Superintendent in the Spring. We are so proud of you all!
  • Shout out to the Creative Writing Magnet authors for finishing up the senior authors' last workshops! It has been bittersweet but absolutely beautiful to see how the underclassmen look up to the seniors. The seniors' legacies will be well taken care of, and we can't wait to see their independent literary magazines!
