Our second semester is nicely underway. The changes to our timetable are posted on our website if you have not been able to check them out.

We recently went on a nice ski trip to Jasper with our high school students. In spite of a couple of hiccups (rain and a power outage), it was still a great trip. We appreciate that we have a wonderful group of students that make these trips enjoyable for all. Thank you to Mrs. Tobler and Mrs. Zimmer for their time and efforts in making it all possible.

Yesterday, we celebrated La Carnival as a school. It was a fun way to get outside, enjoy the lovely winter weather, and have fun as a school community. We are grateful for the many hours Mrs. Tanton and Mrs. Reber spent organizing it. We would also like to thank our parent volunteers for their time and efforts in organizing, purchasing materials, and running stations. We appreciate all of you!

It is survey season. Every February, Alberta Education sends Assurance Survey links to parents of students in Grades 4, 7 and 10. If you have yet to receive an email with the link and the code, please let us know so we can assist you.

If you are not aware, the BRSD calendar for 2024-25 has been released. One important difference is that there will not be early dismissal days next year. All Staff Meetings, Collaboration, and Professional Learning Days will take place on Fridays throughout the year. These will be full-day events, and students will not attend school on these days. As of January 15, 2024 we have switched to online permission forms for field trips and extra curricular activities. You will go to the same site that you pay your school fees online. There will be a NEW heading called field/athletic trips where you can find your online field trip form. If you have any questions, please contact the office.

Our Sr. High Skiers had a wonderful trip to Jasper! Thank you to the supervisors, Mr. Pastachak, Mrs. Tobler, Mr. Wilson, and Mrs. Zimmer for organizing and accompanying our students!

Our Jr. High Basketball teams hosted their home tournament on the weekend - thank you to all parents who supported our players by providing food and working a concession shift.

The International Travel Club will be running a flower fundraiser through Forster's Greenhouse this year, so watch for information in March from travellers on how to order for May delivery. Thank you for your continued support!

Parents are reminded that BRSD policy requires all students who ride the bus to wear (or carry) clothing suitable for the weather conditions. This includes headgear, hand covering, and appropriate footwear. Students who arrive at school inappropriately dressed will not be allowed to ride home or to/from sporting events or school planned field trips until they have proper gear dropped off or they are picked up by a parent.

As we enter the season of weather related bus delays and cancellations, BRSD would like to remind parents to check their school website or the BRSD website for updates. If there is a change to the schedule it will appear in an ALERT banner at the top of the website. If there is no banner, all routes are running as scheduled. Every family affected by a bus route delay or cancellation also receives an automated phone message.

The next School Council Meeting will be on Tuesday, February 13th at 6:00pm in the Learning Commons.
