Pecatonica #321 Curriculum Corner

Teachers across the district lined up to wave good-bye to students as they left for the summer. We will miss all of the students and are looking forward to new memories and experiences in the fall! See you then!

In May, Ms. Wiemer (Kindergarten) and Mrs. Durand (Music) held one last kindergarten concert before both ladies retire at the end of the 2021-22 school year. Thank you for all of your years of service to the district!

During the month of May, fifth grade students created biography bottles. All students were asked to choose a famous person to study and read a biography about their life. They then created a bottle to look like the person they had chosen. The students put in a lot of time and effort and their hard work paid off. The projects turned out great!

While working on volume in math, they also created a volume zoo. Students were asked to create a structure and determine its volume using the measurements.

This is an award which recognizes the following outstanding qualities: leadership, a positive attitude toward learning, a desire for improvement, enthusiasm about school, being helpful to others, and involvement in extracurricular activities. Students are nominated for Student of the Month by one or more of the staff at Pecatonica High School. They may win this honor only once per year. Students were honored through announcements and received a certificate at the beginning of the Board of Education meeting on Monday, May 16.

During FFA week, high school FFA members came to PCMS and shared their agricultural knowledge with younger students in the district. FFA brought a variety of animals, led games to keep cool, showed students how to plant, and showed off their own farm equipment. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and spreading the word about FFA!
