Principal's Report
Wow, it is hard to believe we are almost at the middle of November already! We had our Parent/Teacher/Student interviews, Remembrance Day memorial and fall break is over. Report cards will be issued on Friday, December 1. A copy will be posted in the Parent Portal and a printed copy will be sent home with your child at 3:15 p.m. that day.
Students have continued to impress being focused on their studies and exhibiting excellent behavior in the school. At Pine Street Elementary we believe that a strong collaboration between parents and school is critical for students to be successful. Collaboration is the most effective way to help our students, your children, show their true potential and prepare them for a successful future. If you have any questions about your child’s education, please feel free to email or call your child’s teacher. We work together to make sure your child’s education is as positive and as successful as possible and that we are preparing them for amazing futures.
As the cold weather descends upon us, please be reminded that we do go outside for recess most of the time following the district’s Inclement Weather policy AP 131. So when it gets below -22 (including the wind chill) we remain inside for recess and lunch hour breaks.
Here are a few little reminders to help us provide the best care we can for your children.
- Please be sure your child has warm clothing before they leave for school.
- Students should have a toque and mittens/gloves with them
- It is also a great idea for students to have snow pants as students may head outside for daily physical education as well.
- Please make sure your child has a pair of indoor and outdoor shoes/boots
Have a super month and remember to enjoy the unique fall/winter weather.
Thank you for your continued support.

First Nations' Friday
It takes courage to set big goals. The Bear, through the Seven Sacred Teachings, provides many lessons in the way it lives, but courage is the most important teaching it offers. Though gentle by nature, the ferociousness of a mother Bear when one of her cubs is approached is the true definition of courage. To have strength to overcome fears that prevent us from living our true selves as human beings is a great challenge that must be met with the same vigor and intensity as a mother Bear protecting her cub. The Bear's example shows us how to face any danger to achieve our goals.
