Dear MVLA Community,

As we complete the first weeks of the new school year, we want to share information about air quality safety concerns, Back to School Nights, and links to our COVID-19 information. We hope you find this information helpful.

At MVLA, we are preparing for any shifts that may be necessary due to air quality or fire. Our goal is to ensure that learning can continue safely in the event of poor air quality. You may find our FAQs on Air Quality and Impact of Fire here.

Decisions related to school activities based on air quality will be made in accordance with guidance developed by the California Department of Education in collaboration with the California Air Resources Board and multiple educational agencies and organizations. Athletics activity safeguards will adhere to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) guidelines related to air quality and sports participation and guidance on physical activity and air quality provided by the National Federal of State High School Associations (NFHS).

We will continue to provide updates should guidance change based on the pandemic conditions.

Back to School Nights were conducted on August 26th at Los Altos High School, Mountain View High School, and the Freestyle Program. All of the events were very successful, and parents (and some students) were highly engaged and received helpful information to navigate this school year. Links to videos are below. As we continue to navigate COVID 19 guidance, we want to bring two items to your attention.

First, MVLA conducted an informative webinar on the county quarantine and testing process. The webinar, viewed by hundreds of MVLA stakeholders, may be found here.

Secondly, we continue to gather information about the vaccination status of our students. If students are vaccinated, they may continue to participate in all extracurricular activities if they are asymptomatic. You may find the confidential link here.
