Attention Seniors!
When you get a chance, stop in the office and double check the spelling of your first, middle and last names to make sure they are spelled correctly for your diploma!! All you need to do is check the spelling or add your middle name if it is not listed. If the spelling of your full name is correct, please initial by your name. Join friends, family, and staff of the School District of Omro for a fun night out with the Wisconsin Herd! A portion of the ticket sales will be donated back to the school district. Omro students and families will be invited to participate in exclusive experiences provided by the Herd:
- Band in the Stands Performance
- National Anthem Performed by the Omro Choir
- Dance Team Performance at Halftime
- Jockey High Five Tunnel for ALL students

Just a reminder...
Work Permits Are Available ONLINE ONLY
The application is now live. A parent can access the site using these instructions. Payment is made directly to the department through the application, using a credit or debit card or by ACH direct withdrawal. Once the permit application process is complete, the Department mails a paper copy of the permit directly to the employer.
In addition, we have reorganized our employment of minors web pages. The information you need is linked at the bottom of this page, including a guide to hazardous and prohibited work, the hours and times of day restrictions for minors, and links to the appropriate statutes and codes.

Interested in Tutoring?
Volunteer Tutoring Opportunity Available: A 3rd grade OES student is seeking a math tutor for 25 minutes after school, two days a week, in the OES library. This is a great opportunity to get some volunteer hours while helping a student. If interested, contact Ms. Williams in the guidance office.
CNA TRAINING
Attention 15 - 18 year old Students:
If you have any interest in learning more about obtaining your CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) license for free while working at the Omro Care Center, please sign up for the "Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)" Session during Fox Time on Tuesday, December 5th. For questions, please reach out to Ms. Williams in the Guidance Office.
Youth Apprenticeship Virtual Information Night

Wisconsin Labor History Society's Essay Contest
All Wisconsin high school students (grades 9-12) are eligible to participate in a High School Essay Contest conducted annually by the Wisconsin Labor History Society. The high school students are asked to write an essay of approximately 750 words on the following theme: “Unions are good for my family, my community, and my nation because . . .” and up to eight cash prizes are awarded for the best. The prizes will include one $500 first-place prize, one $300 second-place prize, one $200 third-place prize, and up to five $100 prizes for honorable mention.
WHAT TO WRITE ABOUT . . .
All Wisconsin high school students have ready access to labor history. Check with parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts. Also, neighbors and family friends. Ask to interview them and then write your essay. Only 750 words. Also you may do independent research on topics of labor history. Check the Wisconsin Labor History website (www.wisconsinlaborhistory.org) for resources and other ideas.
CONTEST RULES . . .
Essays should be approximately 750 words in length. They will be judged on understanding, evidence of original research, writing style and significance. Essays must be submitted by email in Microsoft Word or as PDF file. Submissions must include a cover sheet with the following information: Your name, address, home telephone number, your email address, your grade in school, name and address of your school, and, if you were encouraged or assisted by a teacher, the teacher’s name. (Also, list your family’s union membership, if applicable.) If you have any questions, contact: Harvey J. Kaye at kayeh@uwgb.edu.
Deadline for submissions is Feb. 15, 2024.

ATTENDANCE
EXTRACURRICULAR ATTENDANCE POLICY - PRACTICE & COMPETITION
***Students must be in attendance for the entire school day in order to practice or compete in an event. ***
Special circumstances may merit exception with prior approval from the Principal/Dean of Students, or designee. To see if the absence can be approved:
- Step 1 - Parent/Guardian notification to office (Mrs. Dubinski, Mrs. Stadler or Mrs. Dobberstein) at least 24 hours prior to absence
- Step 2 - If absence is approved, Student picks up signed Excused Slip from office
- Step 3 - Student gives signed Excused Slip to coach/advisor to participate the day of the absence
If an absence is deemed unexcused it will result in ineligibility for participation in extracurricular activities until the next full day of attendance.

OHS Baseball Fundraiser
Mark your calendars!!!
December 17 from 11AM-2PM the Omro Baseball program will be holding a bowling fundraiser at the new and improved Fox Lanes right here in Omro! We will have pizza deals, bowling deals, and more!!! And don’t worry the Packer game will be on during this time so you can enjoy some bowling and watch the Packers!
This is a way for us to raise some money to buy new equipment for the upcoming season. So please bring your family and friends and come support a great team!
P.S rumor has it there may be a new uniform sighting, so you won’t want to miss that either!!
