Students/Guardians,

7th and 8th grade students have the opportunity to utilize the chromebook lockers located on the high school campus to house their chromebooks and chargers overnight or throughout the weekend. Students may take home their chromebooks to work on homework as they wish. Each student has an assigned locker for storage. We hope that this allows students the opportunity to have a higher level of responsibility for having their chromebook charged and ready for class. Assigned staff will be available before and after school to open the chromebook lockers for students. Many of our 7th and 8th grade classes are utilizing more hands-on approaches to learning and are integrating the use of technology in their classroom model. Additionally, we ask teachers to utilize Google Classroom for communication to students regarding assigned classwork.

Note: Student access to chromebooks in the classroom comes with the expectation that students are focused on the daily lesson objective. Chromebooks are for instructional use and support only. If a student damages a chromebook or has technology privileges revoked, lockers will be used to manage use and the student will not be allowed to take the chromebook home. Wandering Cloud, a course in transdisciplinary artistic practice, took its first field trip of the year to Crystal Bridges on Friday! With the "museum as their medium," students are going to be writing individual guided tours using Crystal Bridges' collections. These tours will be united by a theme of the student's choosing and recorded as podcasts for the semi-annual Night at the Museum on October 26th. Our Director of Arts Integration and Museum Partnerships (and in-house museum tour expert!), Aaron Jones, demonstrated how to give an engaging tour with one of his own! Then students were invited to wander the galleries and find works about which they were passionate and curious to learn more.

Ms. Foust joined the Arkansas Arts Academy staff in 2023 after teaching labs at the University of Arkansas for two years. Ms. Foust began her academic career as a CNA while she entered college at the University of Central Arkansas as a pre-med student. She eventually studied history and anthropology, focusing on the environmental dynamics of indigenous tribes in the Amazon. Afterwards, she worked for a major oil and gas company, handling rail shipments all over North America. In the last five years, Ms. Foust returned to grad school where she studied physical geography, quantifying the relationship between deforested areas of the Amazon and fire outbreak. Currently, Ms. Foust teaches all of the 7th grade science classes and upper level Anatomy & Physiology. Ms. Foust loves reading, playing D&D and video games, attending concerts, trying new recipes, and kayaking and camping with her husband, Michael, and three kids, Noah, Abigail, and Millie.

Are you a multilingual family with at least two languages spoken at home? If so, we want to welcome you and your family back to our school with an open and informative evening for K-12 families on the 19th of September, a Tuesday. Our district ESOL Coordinator, Multicultural Community Outreach Coordinator, and our Elementary English Language Development teacher will all be here to welcome you and your family from 5 - 6 pm at the Elementary School Library (2005 S 12th St; Rogers, AR 72758). We will have snacks and a friendly atmosphere to answer any questions you have, ideas on how to approach this semester's coming events at AAA, and an overview of our English Language Development services here at the school. We also need your input on ideas and how you can help and contribute to our school community.

There will be interpretation services available. We look forward to meeting you and sharing time with you during this time.
