We are in need of a volunteer to help oversee & co-ordinate with our teachers our School Science Fair. You will be needed during the months of December thru February.

If you have a science or engineering background this would be helpful but not necessary.

We are looking for parent volunteers for our Dibels testing 12/5-12/9. We need 1-2 parents a day who can act as runners and help us keep our testing running smoothly. Your job will be to pick up students in classrooms, help manage kids while they wait for testing, and return students to classes after their assessment is complete. Your help is greatly appreciated to get the entire school tested during this week!

We celebrated our Bobcats from October and also our students who showed Teamwork, our trait for the month of October.

Jill Baker will be our Reading Tutor beginning November 28, she is replacing Carrie Singerman. I would like to thank Carrie Singerman for the great job she has done since August. We will miss you and best of luck.

Please assist me in welcoming Mrs. Shea Flores as our half time counselor. She is replacing Christy McCoy who will be full time at Manzanita. Thanks so much to Christy for the great job she has done at Ventana Vista over the years. We will miss you Christy, good luck at Manzanita.

The ELL class is working on following and giving directions. The students read and followed directions to make slime. Then they wrote their own directions for making slime and after some practice, taught it to a class of stuffed animals. Way to make learning applicable and fun Mrs. Gulley!

As a way to help build family connections Ventana Vista is working on creating a school directory.

We are still in need of a few more pies and miscellaneous items for staff appreciation next week. While you are more than welcome to bake a delicious pie, you can also pick up an equally as tasty pie from the store! These extra treats mean so much to our staff and we would love your help. Join us on campus for the next public FFO meeting tomorrow, November 17 @ 8:15am.

We will have a guest speaker - Ms. Hawkins, Reading Specialist - who will be discussing the Read Strong program and Dibels testing. We will also be talking about how to get involved with our December Holiday Drive as we partner again this year with More Than a Bed.

STEMathon was a huge success and the students had a so much fun!!

You can keep collecting pledges through this week - Pledgestar will remain open to send out & accept electronic donations and we will accept paper donations until this Friday November 18.

Top earning classroom and grade level students will be announced and prizes announced on Monday November 21. We are almost to $20,000 - help us reach that!

The artwork pieces from Art to Remember have arrived. If you were unable to pick up last week, items will be sent home with your child this week - check backpacks.

This Thursday to celebrate Thanksgiving we are having a turkey trot! Wear your turkey gear and support your runners! The kids run/walk laps and every student will earn a turkey token in addition to tokens for each mile completed. Let's help the kids have a blast while staying active.

While there are two shifts for volunteers below are the actual times that the student run:

Kindergarten: 11:00-11:35

4th,5th and Clark and Alexander’s Classes 12:15-12:35

1st, 2nd and Tobin and Lopez’s Classes 12:35-12:55

Volunteers will assist with set up, take down, scanning, handing out tokens, handing out name tags, and cheerleading. Parents and younger siblings are welcome to run too if that's something you enjoy.
