Looking Back –
Welcome back from a nice long weekend! You should be well rested and ready to continue with our study of invertebrates. There are billions of them, and last week we enjoyed looking at Cnidarians with their stinging tentacles and beautiful, often colorful bodies as well as the wonderful, weird, wriggling world of worms. (Can I think of any more W words?) There certainly is a tremendous variety of creatures with no backbones, and we’ll continue with that variety this coming week. (See Looking Ahead below)
Last Week’s Lessons: Unit 1, Lesson3: Cnidarians, & Lesson 4: The Diverse World of Worms
Looking Ahead -
Some students may be more familiar with the two groups of invertebrates in this weeks lessons. Mollusks are cool because they have soft bodies, but sometimes they are protected by shells. They vary from slimy snails and slugs to one of the smartest animals we have found – the octopus. (Stay tuned because we’re going to look at just how smart they are!) Arthropods are more familiar to us because we share the same environment quite often. Spiders, insects, crabs, and many more belong to the Phylum Arthropoda. It should be a very interesting week.
Assignments for the week of Sept. 4-7: Unit 1, Lesson 5: Mighty Mollusks, & Lesson 6: Arthropods
Creature of the week – We will look at an animal called the scheltopusik because I think they’re cool. Research them between now and class time to see what you can tell the rest of the class. What is it? Where does it belong in the classification of animals that we discussed last week?
4th Grade Social Studies with Mrs. Lipscomb
Hello 4th graders, your Class Connect schedule for Social Studies will remain the same. This week you will be completing unit 1, lesson 5 and 6.
