Advanced Learning Placement
The Advanced Learning Program will offer dance workshops for MS and HS students who have been previously “identified” for the ALP (GT) program in the area of dance — AND for ANY DMPS students who would like to be considered/evaluated for possible identification in the future. The workshops will be taught by dance professionals who help ALP staff members assess and develop students’ physical control, coordination, agility, spatial awareness, observation and recall, rhythm, focus, perseverance, expressiveness, movement quality, and improvisational skills. ALL students — with or without a background in dance — who want to learn more about the art of expression through movement are invited to attend!

The monthly workshops will be held 10 am-12 pm in the Central Campus auditorium (1800 Grand Ave) on November 11, December 12, January 20, February 10, March 30, April 27, and May 4th. If possible, please register at least one full week in advance for each session. Workshop participants need to wear comfortable clothing and will have the option to dance barefoot, in non-street shoes, or in dance shoes, due to the special dance floor that is used.
