Husky Highlights
October 15, 2021
Tub or Treat
We need families to bring a tub - decorated or not - and hand out treats to students.
At 4:15 p.m. we will ask our students to line up on the track and make their rounds to all the tubs to collect candy.
If you plan to set up, prepare 125 - 150 bags of goodies.
Students are welcome to wear costumes, but there will not be a contest.
Good Morning
Students leave the gym and go to their classrooms at 7:45 a.m.
Teachers begin educational activities at that time. If you could have your students here by 7:45 a.m. we would greatly appreciate it.
Students are not counted tardy until 8:00 a.m.
Face Covering Mandate Update
The change is effective on October 15, 2021 and will remain in effect for as long as the county is at a Gold, Yellow, or Green level. However, Upshur County administrators strongly encourage the continued use of masks while active case counts remain high in the county.
There are benefits to wearing a face covering. Upshur County Schools will continue to consider mask usage and vaccination status when making decisions about isolation and quarantine. If a student or adult is not fully vaccinated or not properly wearing a face covering while in contact with the positive individual, that student or adult will have to quarantine.
Face coverings are still required while on school buses, regardless of the County Alert System color status. Schools bus operations are still considered public transit by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), whose order requiring masks is still in place.
Vaccination remains the single most effective way of controlling the pandemic, and Upshur County Schools encourages all families to strongly consider vaccination if they have not already done so.
We will continue to monitor the WVDHHR County Alert System map and ask that our families do so as well. If the color designation goes back to Orange or Red, masks will again be required.
3rd, 4th, 5th Grade Vo Tech Opportunity
We have collaborated with Fred Eberle Technical Center and planned a 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade trip to visit the carpentry and cosmetology classes. We want our students to see a variety of skilled areas that are available to them as they become adults.
Our students will work one on one with a FETC student to either build a birdhouse OR have a manicure and their hair styled.
We are planning these activities the week of November 15, but need some information from parents prior to scheduling specific dates.
Please complete the form to provide us with the necessary information
