Your child's report card for the second trimester is available on Skyward. All families will need to sign the report card in Skyward. Please follow the directions below on how to log into Skyward and view your child's report card. To verify that you have received and read your child's report card, you will be asked to provide an electronic signature. As you are reviewing your child's report card, some teacher names may be incorrect. That is okay! We are aware of this! This has occurred because we have had to make many changes in class placements and teachers this year.

Preschool families, your child's progress reports are being sent through the mail. You will not be able to view them through Skyward.

You will be receiving a MAP report of your child's performance on the ELA and Math MAP test. Please keep in mind that the MAP test is just one point of data that we gather on your child. Your child's academic work on a daily basis and participation in lessons and discussions provide additional evidence and data on what your child's strengths are and what areas your child might need more instruction in.

If you have a question about your child's report card or how to reach the report card, please reach out to your child's teacher.

Please follow the directions below to access and sign your child's report card online. We are asking that ALL kindergarten-fourth grade families sign the report card electronically.

Our preschool registration is beginning on Monday, March 15th. If you have a child that is eligible for preschool, aged 3-5, please contact the office to set up a preschool screening and to start the registration progress.

On Wednesday, March 17th, our students will have a wonderful opportunity to attend a virtual assembly with world-renowned BMX biker, Matt Wilhelm. We will share the link with families in the afternoon on Wednesday, March 17th. The link will be available for families to view until Friday, March 19th.

Registration for the 2021-2022 school year is beginning next week. Packets have been mailed to all district families with directions on how to register through Skyward for next year.

• Items can be returned by mail, blue drop box, or by appointment only.
• Payments can be made on epay (saltcreek48.org), check or cash (exact only no change)

All Illinois children in Kindergarten and 2nd grade or any new student to the district (in 1st, 3rd or 4th grade) are required by the state to provide school with proof of a dental exam by May 15, 2021. Any dental exam completed between November 2019 and May 15, 2021 will fulfill the state's requirement. If a dental exam form is not received by May 15, 2021, the school may hold the child's report card until proof of a dental examination form is received or until the school receives proof (ex: appointment card) that a dental examination will take place within 60 days after May 15, 2021. Please call our school nurse with questions.

If in-person learning is selected, students must attend in-person unless there is an extenuating circumstance, which must be discussed with your child’s school for approval. Per approval, your child will be able to participate in remote learning. If the extenuating circumstances are not approved by your child’s school, your child runs the risk of receiving an unexcused absence and will not be able to participate remotely.

If you miss the bus, please try to make every effort possible to get your child to school. Also, please call the office to let us know. Typically, we need at least 24 hour notice in order for a child to live stream into a classroom.

Mrs. Cho is a unicorn- she has such strong knowledge and talent that she brings to her role as a speech-language pathology assistant. She builds warm relationships with her students and children enjoy working with her. Mrs. Cho is extremely flexible and adaptive; she has a can-do attitude and never hesitates to tackle any task asked of her. She has worked closely with the preschool team this year and is a wonderful addition to the classroom. Mrs. Cho is one-in-a-million and we are so lucky to have her here in District 48!

Please do not send your child to school if they are feeling any of the COVID19 symptoms. COVID symptoms include fever (100.4 or higher), new onset of moderate to severe headache, shortness of breath, new cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain from unknown cause, new congestion/runny nose, new loss of sense of taste or smell, nausea, fatigue from unknown cause, muscle or body aches. We are using extreme caution to make sure that all of our students and staff are safe while at school. Your support is critical! We ask that any student that is experiencing a symptom of COVID19 to stay home and report the absence to the office. Our nursing staff will call you about next steps.

In addition, if one of your children is experiencing a COVID19 symptom, all of your children need to stay home.

If someone in the household has tested positive for COVID-19 or is identified as a close contact to someone that has tested positive please call the office. The nurse will follow-up to gather the information required by the health department, discuss next steps, and answer any questions you may have.

Would you like to recognize a staff member in Salt Creek School District 48 that deserves some extraordinary recognition for something they have done in our school district to make a difference for others? Please fill out this form to have this staff member recognized for their amazing accomplishment.

If your child is in-person for learning, they have an opportunity to grab a "Grab and Go" meal as they exit the building. The bag includes a breakfast and lunch. Please make sure to talk to your child about if you would like them to grab a meal bag as they are dismissed from the building. The meals are free for every student.

Any District 48 family can pick up 5 days worth of meals (breakfast and lunch) at Albright Middle School at Door 2 on Tuesdays from 1:00-1:30 and 2:30-3:00. You can also pick up meals on Wednesdays from 11:00-4:00 at any District 45 school. If these times do not work for you, please contact the office, and we can arrange a different time for you to pick up the meals. Menus for December are linked below.
