Good Afternoon!
This week we finished our first set of R-Factor lessons. Based on our learning here are our goals over the next month. We invite you to join is in practicing if you wish.
- Pick one behavior that you can be more disciplined in and practice it by being intentional, on-purpose with skill.
- Limit BCD (blaming, complaining and defending).
- Switch from a have to to a get to mindset.

First Semester Exams and Winter Break
We have had some questions about 1st Semester Exams and our Winter Break calendar. Please note that our calendar goes through Dec. 20. Here is our schedule. Make up exam will be given when we return from break.
If you have a tripped planned that you will miss some or all of Exam Week please reach out to Attendance and they can assist.

Dec. 15: 1st and 2nd Period Exams
Dec. 18: 3rd and 4th Period Exams
Dec. 19: 5th and 6th Period Exams
Dec. 20: 7th Period and Make-Up
Make up Exam Week:

Student Sign In/Out to school
SIGN IN: If a students is coming in late from an appointment or home, (even if they go to Emerald) they should check in at the attendance office to be sure their absence is coded correctly.
SIGN OUT: If your child need to leave school due to illness, they need to be released from the clinic. If your child texts or calls and says they are not feeling well please let them know that they need to go to the clinic. Our clinic aide or school nurse will see your child and give you a call if they need to go home.We ask that your child not just sign out through the attendance office.

Diploma Verification
A link was sent to all Seniors to complete Diploma Verification. Ask your Senior if they have read, seen or complete this email. Please feel free to reach out to Ms. Byas with questions.
Global Travel Opportunities
Over a hundred students have signed up to take overseas trips in 2024 through the Dublin City Schools' Global Travel Program, with trips occurring over spring break and next summer. There is still time to register for a trip! Help your student attain a heightened global awareness and well-developed cultural perspective by encouraging them to participate in the DCS Global Travel Program.
Trips complement our curriculum and focus on service learning, language immersion, cultural exchange and/or intellectual pursuits. Destinations in 2024 include Costa Rica and Panama; Dominican Republic; Iceland; Hawaii; Thailand; Austria, Germany and Switzerland; Italy and Greece; Japan; London, Paris and Rome; and Germany and Austria.

Learn the Facts at a Community Conversation!
Members of the Dublin City Schools district leadership team are hitting the road and joining the principal of every school for a co-hosted Community Conversation. These Community Conversation events will be levy-focused, providing an opportunity to learn facts and ask questions about the upcoming levy and bond issue. Our school’s Community Conversation event will be September 19 at 7:00pm in the Jerome CPA.
We welcome everyone to come and be a part of this informative session. Together, let's make our community stronger through open dialogue and shared knowledge. See you there!

PSAT Testing Dates
There will be no Working Wednesday on this day and students will follow the regular bell schedule.
- Juniors will test on Wednesday, October 11
- Sophomores will test Thursday, October 12th
- Freshman will test Friday, October 13th
National Honor Society Applications
Applications for the National Honor Society are open to Juniors and Seniors. If you are already a member of NHS, you do not need to apply again. Applications are due at 11:59 pm on Wednesday, September 27. Full application information was sent to student emails today. No late applications will be accepted. Student Parking Passes
Students should have a pass and we will begin talking with students that drive a vehicle to school without a pass. All directions to purchase a pass have been sent to student emails. If you have questions, you may contact Mrs. Hampton or Mr. Pusateri.
Locker Update (9.8.23)
Freshman and Sophomores were sent a Google Form to request a locker. We have 150 lockers available for students. Please discuss with your child if they feel the need for a locker.
FOOTBALL FRIDAY NIGHT THEMES
We invite all students to join us for our Spirit Fridays during football season. Students show their spirit at school and then join us at the game.

Because You Can 5K
Kateswell is thrilled to officially announce the inaugural “Because You Can 5K” run to be held on October 29th, benefiting Kateswell’s Leslie Ungerott Fund. This 5K event will be run out of Dublin Jerome High School and will be a blast for runners and walkers of all levels and ages.

Come be a part of the action and support the Dublin Jerome Cross Country Team. This is a unique, nightime event and the biggest fundraiser for our growing program. We have over 95 Teams confirmed and close to 1800 runners. In order to make this day run smoothly, we need your help!

College Visits will start Sept. 5th and run through Nov. 11th.
Student can log into SchooLinks to see what colleges are coming in to visit. Visits are listed on the Home page under school events. Student can look every week and sign up for any college they would like any information on. Please only sign up for visit lots that have colleges listed.
Parents: We are looking for volunteers to come in and assist colleges during their visits. You can sign up to volunteer at https://forms.gle/pQJ9oy1ygvUZDjnR6 .
ASVAB Testing - Career Exploration Program
Does your student know what they want to study in college? Do they know what their strengths or interests are? If the answer is no to either question, please consider signing up for the ASVAB test, administered at Dublin Jerome High School.
The ASVAB, the most widely used multiple aptitude test, assesses a student's ability to learn new skills and is a predictor of success in training and education programs. It includes an interest inventory and other activities and resources designed to help students explore the world of work and gain confidence in making career decisions.
We will conduct ASVAB testing for all interested 10th, 11th and 12th graders at Jerome High School on Thursday, September 28th at 8:00 am. Call Mrs. McConnell in Guidance for more information and how to sign up at 614.718.8276.

- The last day to ADD a credit bearing course is: August 21st, 2023
- Drop a course BEFORE November 3, 2023 - Notation on the transcript will be expunged
- Drop a course AFTER November 3, 2023 - A Withdrawal Fail (WF) will be listed on the transcript and calculated as a failure in the student's GPA

Please remember, the school zone speed limit of 20 m.p.h. is in effect when students are arriving or leaving school. The schedule below applies to all Dublin City Schools on days school is in session.
Elementary Schools: 8:40-9:15 am and 3:35-4 pm
Middle Schools: 7:58-8:33 am and 3:03-3:28 pm
