Cadet Chronicles

Mr. Ponzer teaches 7 & 8 science and 5 & 6 Social Studies & Gym. Mr. Ponzer graduated from North Sargent and NDSU and currently lives in Gwinner with his wife and three kids. His favorite part about being a teacher is seeing the learning process in action.

Fun fact about Mr. Ponzer: He is a Veteran who served in the US Marine Corps.

Mrs. Reinsel teaches 8-12 Math. She graduated from Sargent Central and VCSU. She lives in Forman with her husband Elliot. Her favorite part about teaching is building relationships with students and helping them succeed in their classes.

Fun facts about Mrs. Reinsel: She learned how to ride dirt bike at 4 years old; was in a Scheels ad; and enjoys hunting and fishing!

Student Council members planned the week, from picking the themes for the dress-up days to organizing a pep rally on Monday. Classes chose a slogan related to the football game opponent, the Jaguars, and decorated their class hallways area. On Friday, each class had a float in the parade and the students attended a pep rally in Gwinner.

Students had the option this year to enroll in courses through the North Dakota Center for Distance Education. Nine students signed up. So far, the following courses seemed interesting: Early Childhood Education, Sports & Entertainment Marketing, Future of Money/Bitcoin, Digital Art, and Photography.

7th grade students made the annual trip to Silver Lake for Eco-Ed Day!

Computer Science Applications is a new class offered at SC. Taught by Mr. Fawcett, the class utilizes Code.org to learn various computer applications. So far, the students have practiced a variety of HTML tags, designed a website, and learned about digital footprints.

Students in grades 5-12 attended a presentation at North Sargent by JC Pohl. He discussed teen truths, mental health, and supporting others.

Students in Applied Communications have been practicing Impromptu Speeches and shorter memorized speeches such as a toast and a 100-word speech.

Two Keurigs and a variety of K-cups were donated by the Supporters for Education.

Muffin Morning is October 5th from 7:50 - 8:25a.

Financial Aid night is on October 5th from 5:15-7:15

The juniors will take the PSAT Exam on October 12th in the morning.

On October 19th, the 1st quarter ends, the Juniors will take the ASVAB test, and the Seniors will participate in College Application Month by applying to a college.
