for Certified Paraeducators & Substitute Teachers
Course Overview
This course is designed for certified paraeducators and substitute teachers to create differentiated learning opportunities based on paraeducators’ and substitute teachers’ choice for the following: English learners (ELs), Classroom Management Strategies, Social-Emotional-Behavioral Health, and Learning Strategies. Paraeducators and substitute teachers will form learning groups/partners based on a common content they are interested in learning more about and develop an inquiry questions to focus the learning. Learning groups/partners will plan how they will use their new learning in their professional work.
Course Objectives
1) The participants will know that identifying a need they would like to learn more about will improve their professional work.
2) The participants will understand how to self-direct their learning creating and using inquiry questions with groups/partners and materials.
3) The participants will be able to share and reflect on the implementation of their learning.
Course Structure
This course is hybrid in nature with some in-person learning and some virtual learning.
