Patriot Peek at the Week News

We had a great week celebrating START WITH HELLO WEEK. Check out the video below with pictures from throughout the week or visit the Bunker Hill CUSD#8 Facebook page. There were many smiles and warm greetings shared by all throughout the week.

This coming week, we will have a special assembly to kickoff our character trait of the month program. K-5 students can earn the Patriot Pride Award. Junior high students can earn special monthly incentives like extra recess and ice-cream.

We will take fall school pictures on Friday, as well as baseball, softball, and girls basketball sports pictures. Picture forms will be sent home on Monday.

This week we had a fun time celebrating “Start With Hello” week. We had fun dress up days, special daily greeters, and encouraged students to reach out to one another. Make sure you visit our District Facebook page for pictures!

To help illustrate the importance of saying hello and making connections, we read The Invisible Boy in grades Kindergarten through 7th grade. Sometimes the biggest lessons come from children’s books. While disheartening to acknowledge we have all felt invisible at times, it was inspiring to hear our students talk about ways to make others feel seen and heard.

I hope our students will carry this with them throughout the school year.

As a final challenge to end an important week, I challenge your family to reach out to a neighbor, family member, or family friend who may be lonely or going through a rough time. Make a phone call, mail a card, or go for a visit. Life gets busy but these small connections can make a big difference in someone’s day. It’s simple; Start With Hello!

Your child's teacher will be reaching out to you to schedule a conference on the afternoon/evening of October 4th or 6th. We would like to meet with every parent. A strong parent partnership is key for student success at school!

Students will be dismissed early on both Tuesday and Thursday at 2:00PM to allow for conferences in the afternoon/evening. There will be no school on Friday, October 7th or Monday, October 10th.

Jr. High conferences will be open conferences with no set appointments on both nights.

Schmidt, Sutton, Murphy, Meisenheimer, and Short will be at Wolf Ridge both nights. Strohmeier and Haynes will be at the High School both nights. Check your email for more information.
