Message from Mrs. Rigby, Copperview Principal
Dear Copperview Families,
What an incredible year we’ve had at Copperview Elementary! I’ve witnessed heroic efforts of our teachers, staff and students as we’ve worked hard to succeed in spite of the challenges of this past year. It’s been a privilege to lead and love during throughout this year, and I thank each of you for partnering with us to educate our precious children.
As we head into our strong finish, we’re excited to have a few final events to celebrate the year. Here are just a few of the events we’ve planned:
- Field Day for all grades – various dates between May 19 - 25
- 5th Grade Clap Out – May 27 @ 12:30 (see details below)
May you have a restful summer vacation. We hope your summer includes time with family, reading good books, lots of laughter, and fabulous memories. We wish you a safe and fun summer!

Marcia Baird
Marcia’s first job in education, was in the Murray School District, 20 years ago, at their alternative high school (which no longer exists) running their in-house nursery. She provided day care for staff and students. Most of her career has been in the Early Childhood/preschool setting. Marcia has been at Copperview for the past 4 years as a Critical Needs Para Educator and has been played an integral part in supporting the varying needs of our students. She states, “I have loved being part of this community! I will always hold dear the friendships I have made at Copperview.” In retirement, her husband and her plan to do a lot of camping, relaxing, and spending time with family. One little known fact about her is that she saw the Beatles on stage back in the sixties!
Jeri Rigby
Principal Jeri Rigby has been working in education for 30 years. Her first position was a Special Education Teacher in Alpine School District. She continued to teach Special Education for 7 years in Davis District and then served at the District level for an additional 10 years. She supervised, led and trained Special Education teachers and staff in 57 Elementary Schools. In addition to this she was also an adjunct professor at Utah State University for 16 years. Following her time at Davis School District she spent 5 years with Utah Personnel Development Center (UPDC) and trained teachers and staff across the state on MTSS, effective practices and systems, and literacy. She also helped develop and implement Utah Coaching Network. More recently Jeri has spent the past 7 years at Canyons School District, 1 year at the District office, 4 years as the Assistant Principal for Midvale Elementary and we’ve been lucky to have her for the past 2 years as our Principal at Copperview Elementary. During retirement she plans to volunteer in her community and church, travel, and spend time with her 7 children and 12 grandchildren. Jeri has been instrumental in overcoming the challenges we’ve faced during the pandemic and creating a welcoming community for our students and families despite everything.
