Husky Proud!
Ruhkala Elementary School Library!
Hello Families,
Your child will be visiting the library next week and I have exciting and fun things planned for this school year. Here are some basic guidelines that I ask for all families to adhere to.
Students of all grades may check out one book at a time
Books are checked out for 2 weeks. If you want to keep it longer, the book must be renewed or it will become overdue. Please bring the book in to be rescanned during library time.
If the book is lost or damaged, please report it to me, Mrs. Wilson, or your teacher. The book will need to be paid for. Please DO NOT order another book to use as a replacement. We purchase the books from specific publishers that provide library quality books that are designed to last through many check-outs. I am happy to provide the price. A $2.00 processing fee will be applied to all materials to cover the cost of shipping/labels/processing. Cash or checks accepted, made payable to Ruhkala.
If the book is later found, I am happy to issue a full refund.
If you have misplaced a book, please make sure to look around very well. They show up in the most interesting places!
If you find damage to a book after checking it out, please let me know.
If you need assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask. I am here to help each child find just the right book.
I’m looking forward to a fabulous year in the library. I strive to bring fun stories, silly activities, and great information about using a library to each grade level. In addition, we will be having two book fairs, one in October and one in March, and volunteers are essential to having a successful book fair. Please watch for volunteer opportunities coming up. You must adhere to all the volunteer guidelines required by the district office.
Thank you,
Mrs. Wilson

Crosswalks - Arrival and Dismissal
Please follow the directions of the crossing guard.
Please remind your child that they must get off their bike or scooter before crossing.
Please adhere to the crossing guards if driving through a crosswalk.
This simply helps us keep our students safe!
ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL: Please read this section carefully.
Our main goal is that all students remain safe at school. Please do not come on campus during arrival and dismissal, please adhere to the signs that are posted, and please check in at the office during the school day.
- Students may arrive at school between 7:40 and 7:50. Classrooms will not open until 7:40. Students must go straight to their classrooms between those times.
- For student safety only staff and students will be allowed on campus during arrival and dismissal. The office will remain closed at this time.
- TK and Kindergarten families will receive additional information on arrival and dismissal procedures from their child's teacher.
- First through sixth-grade students can be dropped off at either the front or back parking lot or they can walk onto campus at a supervised crosswalk.
- For the convenience of everyone, vehicles should PULL UP as far as possible before dropping off.
Dismissal:
- Student dismissal times vary depending on the day and grade level.
- TK and Kindergarten families will receive information on dismissal times and procedures directly from their child's teacher.
- For student safety only staff and students will be allowed on campus during arrival and dismissal. The office will remain closed at this time.
- First through Sixth-grade students will dismiss at 1:20 (Mondays) and 2:20 (Tuesday through Friday).
- Walkers and bike riders will leave campus at one of the Walking Zones. One is located at the bus loop and the other is near the kindergarten playground.
- First through third-grade students will be dismissed to vehicles at the front parking lot. Please remain in your vehicle and pull as far forward as possible. Please follow the directions of the staff that are on duty.
- Fourth through sixth-grade students will be dismissed to vehicles at the back parking lot. Please remain in your vehicle and pull as far forward as possible.
- If your children are in multiple grade levels please connect with your child's teacher to make plans for either a back lot or front lot dismissal.
