Mission Statement
St. Joseph Catholic School fosters a diverse community of disciples empowered through a rigorous and inclusive Catholic education rooted in Gospel values and service to others.
mass reflections
The priest talked about how the saints reflected the beatitudes. He also talked about how if you have done something bad but you feel bad and turn yourself to God then you can still become a saint. Anyone can become a saint. Saints were just ordinary people like us. The priest asked, “if the saints who were normal people like us could be a saint then why can't we?” Marie 4A
Today was All Saints Day and we, as 4th graders, got to dress up as a saint. Today Father gave an awesome homily here is what he said to us today in mass. “St. Augustine said if he/she can become a saint why can’t you and I become saints? Saints are simple and ordinary people who are in God’s kingdom.” We should only pray to Jesus because we ask Mary and the saints to pray for us. The saints are very important. Seth 4B
The homily was about the communion of saints and how they represented the beatitudes but one of the things that really caught my attention was when he said something that Saint Augustine said. He said “if other people can become saints then why can’t you and me become saints too?” My opinion on that saying is that it’s absolutely correct. I also heard him say that the saints are praying and interceding for us and to pray to Jesus and Mary. Riley 4A
Father Raju told about the “Communion of the Saints” from the Apostles Creed, he also said saints are ordinary and simple people like us but in God’s world both now and forever. Another thing Father Raju told us is that “saints reflect the Gospels and virtues. He also said that we need them in our life so we can pray to them so they can pray to God. Raju also said that we pray to Jesus, then Mary, then to the angels and saints to pray to God. Nico 4B

Altar Server Training
On Tuesday, November 7th at 3:10 pm, St. Joseph Catholic Church will host an Altar Server training class. The training with Deacon George will be in the church and will last until 4:10 pm. This ministry seeks to encourage the youth of our parish to fully engage in our faith through their service to the Church as altar servers at Sunday Masses as well as our Wednesday school Masses. Serving at the altar gives youth a hands-on, personal experience of God's work in the liturgy. Requirements are that the children have received their First Communion. Children over the age of 14 will need to complete the Safe Environment Training and Fingerprinting. Please contact the Church office, 863-294-3144, with any questions

Great American Teach In
On Thursday, November 16th, our school will be participating in the Great American Teach In. This annual event is held nationwide to celebrate American Education week. Sunday's Gospel
"The scribes and the Pharisees
have taken their seat on the chair of Moses.
Therefore, do and observe all things whatsoever they tell you,
but do not follow their example.
For they preach but they do not practice.
They tie up heavy burdens hard to carry
and lay them on people's shoulders,
but they will not lift a finger to move them.
All their works are performed to be seen.
They widen their phylacteries and lengthen their tassels.
They love places of honor at banquets, seats of honor in synagogues,
greetings in marketplaces, and the salutation 'Rabbi.'
As for you, do not be called 'Rabbi.'
You have but one teacher, and you are all brothers.
Call no one on earth your father;
you have but one Father in heaven.
Do not be called 'Master';
you have but one master, the Christ.
The greatest among you must be your servant.
Whoever exalts himself will be humbled;
but whoever humbles himself will be exalted." MT 23:1-12
