Notes from East Hill Elementary
August 18, 2023
Welcome East Hill Families!
We are looking forward to welcoming our WILDCATS on Wednesday, September 6! I want to thank our phenomenal custodial staff and summer crew for the work they have put in over the last two months to get the building ready to go! The building has a great vibe as staff members organize and decorate classrooms in preparation for a wonderful 23-24 school year! We cannot be more excited to get our WILDCATS back into the building!
Welcome Back Letter
Mark Your Calendar!
Our East Hill Fall Curriculum Night is being held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
This will be a time to connect with your child’s teachers and learn about curriculum, expectations, and the structure of the school day. Your child will bring home a detailed note about Curriculum Night on the first day of school, so be sure to check his/her backpack carefully!
Welcome to Our Newest Wildcats!
Our New Student Walk-Through will take place on Tuesday, August 29 at 11:00 am.
Transportation and Car Tags
A Message from Transportation:
Parents: Transportation has wrapped up the bus routes for East Hill and wants to remind you that if you have NOT sent in a daycare form already that it must be submitted ASAP to ensure your student is being bussed to and from the correct location. All bus routes will be available by the end of next week for you to view. Any errors regarding your student that you may find we encourage you to call Transportation directly at 315-487-4576. If you missed the survey and do NOT need a bus we also encourage you to contact Transportation directly. East Hill will be conducting Emergency Bus Evacuation Drills on Monday, September 11 upon morning arrival.
If you must transport your child, please contact the main office at 315-487-4648 to request a car tag.
*A new 23-24 car tag must be issued. Last year's numbers are not permitted!
**Please note all car tags must be present and visible during dismissal for a child to be dismissed to your vehicle.**
Car tags will be available for pickup at Kindergarten Orientation and for families of students in grades 1-4 on Monday, August 28 from 1pm until 4pm.
YMCA Before and After School Program
The YMCA Program for before and after school care will once again be located at East Hill. Please contact the YMCA directly at 315-474-6851 should you have any questions regarding their program. You can register for this program on the YMCA website.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Arrival Procedures
Arrival begins at 9:00 am with buses unloading students.
Parents may enter the parking loop to drop off their children between 9:05 am and 9:10 am after all buses have unloaded.
Parents must stay in their car at all times unless, of course, it is necessary to help a child get out of their carseat.
Please unload your child from your vehicle on the passenger side.
If you arrive after 9:10 am, you will need to park your car and sign your child in at the main office.
Walkers may arrive at the school at 9:00 am. Please do not arrive early or let your child arrive early as there is no supervision until 9:00 am when the doors will be opened.
Dismissal Procedures
Bus dismissal will begin at 3:15 pm.
Cars picking up students
Do not line up on Blackmore Rd. or Parsons Dr. until after 3:15 pm. Buses and emergency vehicles must have access to the bus loop.
Cars will be motioned to enter the loop after all buses have left (roughly 3:20 pm).
Please be respectful of our neighbors on Parsons Dr. and Blackmore Rd. and do not block driveways or mailbox access.
Parent pickup tags, similar to the ones pictured here, will be provided for all families that indicated afternoon car pickup. Each family will get two car tags with the same number. Students will be provided with a backpack tag with the corresponding number. School staff will be able to easily identify the correct car in the pickup line outside of school. A new 23-24 car tag must be issued. Last year’s numbers are no longer valid.
If a parent is designating someone else to pick up a child on a particular day, it will be up to the parent to make sure they provide that person with the pickup tag.
Parents must stay in their car at all times unless, of course, it is necessary for you to help a child get into their carseat. Please load your child into your vehicle on the passenger side.
We truly appreciate your support with following our arrival and dismissal procedures to keep all students safe. Please do not hesitate to contact the main office at 315-487-4648 with any questions.
