WES 1st Grade

WOW, September went by way too fast! Fall is here Ya'll! The air is getting chilly and leaves are starting to fall. It gets chilly sometimes when we go out to play for recess. Please have your child bring a jacket or dress in layers. It gets chilly sometimes when we go outside for recess. Please try to pack your child a healthy snack each day. Our snack is at 10:20am. We have lunch at 12:00 and it is a long wait from 8-12. Always remember to check your child's green folder for news, notes, and homework. I know that time is valuable but we are asking you to take 20 minutes or less for your child to read a book and do one activity with their spelling words.

Important Dates:

• Wednesday, Oct. 4th is our field trip to the Race Track
• We will be having our October spirit day and Birthday Celebration on Tuesday, Oct. 31st!

Daily Reminders:

*Don't forget to bring a water bottle daily.

*Students should only have water in their water bottle.

*Remember to bring your green folder and baggie book folder to school each day.

*Don't forget to pack a healthy snack for snack time!

*Friday is ice cream day in the cafeteria! Ice cream is $1.25.

Mrs. Shore and I are requesting that any money sent in with students be in a labeled bag or envelope. It must have the following:

• Student's Name
• Amount
• What it is for

This is to avoid any money errors within our classroom. If you remember, please send a Dojo message to me or Mrs. Shore to let us know your child is bringing in money.

Tuesday: P.E.

Wednesday: Art

Thursday: P.E.

Friday: Music

Phonics: I can decode and spell words with short 'u'

Reading: I can retell a story including key details.

I can ask and answer questions about key details in a text.

Math: I can add and subtract within 20.

Writing: I can write a narrative using compete sentences.

Science: I can recognize differences in the features of the day and night sky.

Monday:

• Read baggy books 3x, parents sign off
• Letterland Spelling: Read words 2x, parents sign off

Tuesday:

• Read baggy books 3x, parents sign off
• Letterland spelling: 3x each (Look-Say-Cover-Write)

Wednesday:

• Read baggy books 3x, parents sign off
• LetterLand Spelling: Write 5 sentences using List A words. Two of which will be your 2 sentences on your contract.

Thursday:

• Read your Little Book 3x and parent sign book log.
• LetterLand Spelling: Take practice test (10 List A words, 4 review words, and both sentences)

Friday:

No homework!!!
