Message from Kelley Rampey - College and Career Readiness Counselor
Hello Spartan Family,
My name is Kelley Rampey and I serve as the Bixby Public Schools ICAP Coordinator and Career Counselor at the High School. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Science Education and began working for Edmond Public Schools as a teacher. I have been in education over 20 years with most of that time in Edmond, Oklahoma. While working at Edmond Public Schools, I pursued my Masters of Education in Guidance and Counseling and later became the College Counselor for Oklahoma Christian School. Before moving to Bixby in 2020, I served as an Academic Counselor at Edmond Memorial High School.
My new position as ICAP Coordinator allows me to support the Academic Counselors by providing activities that will serve as a “roadmap” for students to explore and discover career options. Students are completing the ICAP activities in the OkCollegeStart platform through their core academic classes. The term ICAP refers to the Individual Career Academic Plan and is a high school graduation requirement. In addition to students completing the ICAP activities through OKCollegeStart, they also have the choice to participate in Career Talks, College Visits, Professional Job Shadowing, and/or On-The-Job Training opportunities.
In the fall, Bixby 11th and 12th grade students attended a College Fair that was held on campus. There were 52 colleges and universities that attended and offered great insight for students to learn about college admissions, degree programs, and scholarships.
On April 26th, Bixby will host a Career Fair for Bixby juniors and seniors in the Whitey Ford Sports Complex from 10am to 3pm. There will be over 40 businesses representing a variety of career fields that students can explore as well as learn about summer job opportunities. It will be an exciting event as students will learn about new job trends and careers shaping our global workforce.

February 8th - Career Talk - Fiber Optic Technicians, Lineman, and Electrical Trades

Looking Back
Environmental Science class adopts coral in the Bahamas
Mrs. Smith's Environmental Science class adopted a coral at the end of the semester last spring. As part of studying the environment of the Bahamas, she raised money to adopt a coral on behalf of the class. The organization is the Bahamas Reef Environment and Education Foundation, and we are the only school outside of the Bahamas to have adopted a coral fragment. The kids were incredibly excited last year to have been a part of this, and Mrs. Smith is planning to do it again this year as well. It was special to receive an update about the coral and know that our Environmental Science class is contributing to the health and sustainability of the ocean.
