IMPORTANT WINTER WEAR INFORMATION
During the cold months, it is VERY important to send your student(s) with the appropriate winter wear for outside recess. This includes a Hat, Gloves, Snow Pants, Boots, and most importantly a Winter Jacket. We have seen quite a few students come in only a sweater. Kids will go outside as long as the "feels like" temp is 10* and above. Please send them with their gear just in case they may need it throughout the day.
NEW SKYWARD FEATURE
Starting Friday, December 22nd, when your student visits the nurse’s office there will be an auto-generated email sent to parents/guardians with general information about the visit. If there are any questions regarding the visit, please contact the nurse via email (khunt@nsd2.com). Please do not call the main office with questions for the nurse. Thank you!

The kindergarten and first-grade students are working very hard on their construction paper self-portraits. They are going to turn out great.
The second-grade students are working hard to finish their fabric minion projects. Great job second graders!
The third-grade students are going to use one-point perspective drawing techniques, to create a landscape that appears to have depth. Good job third graders!
The fourth, and fifth-grade students continue to work on their acrylic paintings. Once our trees are finished we can start working on our reflections and add color to our water. Amazing work so far!
This has been such a great year. I cannot wait to see everybody in 2024!
Thank you,
Mr. Ratts

Stack fast!
All students have been practicing their Speed Stacking skills in PE. Students have learned the different stacks, transitions, and sequences. This week, we took out the timing mats to see how fast they could stack and started tournaments in grades 3-5. Some have told me that they have their own cups at home. Ask your student to show off their skills!
Find videos teaching how to stack at, https://www.speedstacks.com/

This month in music...
Fifth grade performed their music concert and did an INCREDIBLE job! Please help me continue to congratulate them on a great performance.
Fourth grade has been reviewing note names on the Treble Clef to prepare for playing recorders after winter break. If your musician has not brought me payment for their recorder please have them do so when returning from break. If you need assistance with getting a recorder please let me know at the email below.
Third Grade has been participating in some fun holiday-themed activities including the Dreidel Game!
Second grade, first grade, and kindergarten have been participating in their own holiday activities including a winter Color by Note activity and Holiday Song Bingo.
I hope everyone has a happy and safe Winter break and Holiday Season! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to reach me using the information below! As my dad would always jokingly say, see you next year!

The RGS Student Council would love to thank all of the RGS families for their generosity! We had a successful Adopt-A-Family turnout. All of the ornaments were quickly taken off of the giving tree. The gifts were collected to help a family in need. We also were finally able to give the money from the Coin Wars to Laurie and Leslie from the Stardust Sanctuary. They stopped by this week to meet the students on that committee and we presented them with a check. It is so wonderful to have such caring and generous people here at RGS. RGS Rocks!
SmartSocial
As technology gifts may be high on our children's wish lists this season, we're thrilled to introduce our partnership with SmartSocial.com. This platform provides many resources to help safely navigate the digital world.
As the plethora of resources may seem overwhelming at a glance, we recommend starting small and perhaps delving into one of the following topics:
That said, NSD#2 is giving its parents/guardians free access to all of the SmartSocial tools. Just use this link to register: https://smartsocial.com/members?org=nippersinkrichmondburton
This free access is for our students' families only and valid until July 31, 2024. Please do not share the link with non-district families.
Let's make this holiday season not only joyful but also a time for learning and growing in the digital age!
