Farming God's Way-Changing the way Haitians farm

Farming God's Way( FGW) combines Bibical principles, technology and management to help people come out of poverty, using what God has placed in their hands. We train on the importance of placing God first in all things, teach how to do things to the highest standards, and model the technology of no plowing or burning, 100% mulch coverage, and practicing rotations.

The greatest testimony of its success, comes from the lady whom I rent land from. Before beginning our demonstration with our farmers, I showed them the corn plot that my team planted a few months ago. Before I could even explain what we did, my landlord excitedly shares that she has NEVER been able to grow corn on this section of her land. She declared boldly that FGW must work! I can't think of a better way to start a training session!

Each trainings session for 20 people costs about $250 for food, transportation, and staff. We have been trying to complete a training in 3 sessions, but are finding additional trainings are needed. Consider helping us empower Haitians to become sustainable.

The race is on!

As we teach and educate farmers on FGW, I have become even more convidenced that this system will transform Haiti. The men do the hard labor, digging the holes. The ladies add the compost, and plant the seeds.

The only way the powerpoint would show is if we closed all the doors and windows in this tiny room. The sweat was flowing but the farmers were very interested and asked lots of questions.

Equipping The Next Generation

I have always had a heart for the youth. And realizing it is easier to change minds that haven't become set in traditional farming methods, we started a youth garden. A local church agreed to give us an overgrown weed patch to put our garden in. Here the boys are praying, asking God to bless the work of their hands.

12 young boys, working in pairs of 2, each responsible to weed, water and take care of their section of garden. We also have a community section that everyone helps with. Every morning they are waiting by our gate before 7 to go water their garden.

Ask and you shall receive

Answered prayer! We had just finished planted and the ground was so dry. I told the boys they needed to ask God for rain. They stopped working and prayed. Within 1/2 hour God gave us a beautiful soaking rain! The boy who prayed said "I know how to pray good". And the Lord heard and answered! Amen

Speaking life and destiny into young ladies

I have formed a new group with young ladies. The purpose is to instill in them a confidence and assurance of who they are in Christ. We do lots of declarations, speaking forth truth over them, and I am beginning to see their self-esteem growing. I am also teaching English to another group of young ladies. My rewards are the shy smiles behind their hand-covered mouths.

Former Vodou followers now following Christ

My neighbor, a former witchdoctor, accepted the true Lord last November. Since then, he has converted 30-some people from his village. It has been my honor to make regular visits to teach and encourage these new believers.

This is one of the newly converted families. The young lady in the black shirt had many problems which I understood to be demonic in nature. We prayed and she was delivered.

Now, the Joy of the Lord is her strength

All smiles! A month later, her mother told me that she is fully functional. She is able to leave the house and help haul water and cook food. And as you can see, she is full of smiles! God's healing power and freedom!
