Eye on FISD
February 9, 2024
From Dr. Gilstrap
I was happy to see our community supporting our students at the Wilson County Jr. Stock Show last month. There are a lot more events and activities to look forward to this spring semester that I hope our families can attend. Be on the lookout for details coming from our campuses.
Our staff, students, and community have done an excellent job working together to keep our schools safe. Every campus in our district has been the subject of a safety audit this school year and all have passed with zero findings. Please continue to report any concerns. If you see something, say something.
We are in the process of developing our Community Connections initiative to provide opportunities for the community to learn more about Floresville ISD and public education, focusing on a variety of topics, such as finance, curriculum and instruction, and communication. The group will meet a total of six times in the evenings, over a 10 month period. I encourage anyone interested in joining to email us at info@fisd.us.
Last but not least, we are aware of the spike in illnesses this winter. Please know that our Maintenance team has increased efforts to sanitize our schools and minimize the spread of viruses. Be safe and stay healthy!

Mrs. Courtney Lemley received the Community of Character Award for acting quickly to help a student who was choking on a piece of food. The skills she learned in first aid training ten years prior kicked in at that moment and she performed the Heimlich maneuver on the student, ultimately saving the child. Read more about Mrs. Lemley's actions on that day here.
Floresville ISD is honored to have individuals like Mrs. Lemley working at our schools and taking care of our students in every way possible. We thank her for her attention to detail, quick reaction, and continued service.
