Get your parade entries ready! This year’s #PointerNation Homecoming Parade will be Thursday, October 5 at 6:15 pm. If interested in entering a unit in the parade, please sign up using this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0949A9AA23AAFC1-mphs or call Mr. Matt Nevers at 608-987-0730, Ext. 472, or email him at matt.nevers@mp.k12.wi.us. Entries should be in no later than Thursday, September 28 to allow enough time to distribute the parade line-up to all involved. Please read important rules below:

Floats may be pulled by car or truck, and the driver must have a valid WI driver’s license. No three or four-wheelers will be allowed in the parade and we ask that you refrain from throwing candy as it creates a hazardous situation for youngsters. Class floats can have 6-8 students riding and drivers of floats must have a valid regular driver's license (19 years old and older). Written permission from the vehicle owner must be registered with the High School Office a week before the parade. Driver's proof of insurance must be turned into the high school office a week before the parade or your entry will not be allowed to participate in the parade.

Line-up will begin between 5:30 and 6:00 pm in front of the Mineral Point Care Center. Please look for the person in the bright fluorescent vest to help you. At 6:15 pm, the parade will proceed down High Street. This year's theme is “Welcome to Fabulous Pointer Nation” with Las Vegas vibes and Parkview/Albany will be the opposing team. The Spirit Rally, including crowning of the queen and king, will begin immediately following the parade at the football field. The Homecoming Football Game will be Friday, October 6 at 7:00 pm.

A big congrats to everyone involved in making our #PointerNation Middle and High Schools officially accredited by the Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA)! This honor recognizes our schools' outstanding participation in WSMA programming and distinguishes our music program. WSMA applauds our efforts to provide valuable music education opportunities for our students!

Throughout the year, 1st graders will be "traveling" to places around the world! This week, they traveled to New York City to hear about how the fireboat named John J. Harvey helped during 9/11.

2nd graders took a few minutes to color “Thank You Heroes” posters as they honored Patriot Day on 9/11 by learning, “There are always helpers; there are always heroes; love always wins!”

Thanks to the legend Roger Palzkill for showing our new staff around Mineral Point on a bus tour! We hope they're all having a great start to the school year and their time here in #PointerNation.

Compeer Financial’s Fund for Rural America, the Farm Credit cooperative’s giving program, awarded a total of $212,000 through the Agriculture Education and Classroom Equipment Grant program this year. Sixty schools in Illinois, Minnesota as well as Wisconsin located across Compeer Financial’s territory will be receiving grants and Mineral Point is one of them! The grants will be $4,000 each, funding a variety of hands-on learning tools and also new technologies for agriculture education classrooms. We will be receiving money to go towards installation of a walk-in cooler and shelving, bins, and trays. A reminder it's Picture Day Thursday 9/21 during the school day! Families should have received an email with more information. Please contact customerservice@empirephotos.com with any questions. Purchasing pictures is not required, but all students will have photos taken for ID purposes. Retakes are set for Thursday, October 26.

During halftime of Friday's home Football game vs. Darlington, the two schools will be hosting a "Minute to Beat Cancer" fundraising effort. All the money collected in that one powerful minute will be donated to some amazing organizations:

It's Cornish Fest weekend! Come support our music students traveling to New York City in the spring and enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast sponsored by the Odd Fellows Saturday, September 23 from 7-10 am at their lodge on Front Street.
