Principal's Corner

December is right around the corner, and it brings with it some exciting events. Our elementary Christmas concert will take place on Thursday, December 14th. There is an afternoon dress rehearsal performance at 1:00 pm and an evening performance at 7:00 pm. These are both open for the public to attend. The evening performance will be streamed on our Daysland School YouTube channel. We will also come together as a school community from K-12 on Tuesday, December 19th, for our annual turkey dinner. We appreciate the help and support from our parents and school council by donating time and food to make this possible. This will also be our Formal Day as part of our Christmas Theme Week. The list of Christmas theme days for that week is listed later in the newsletter.

Daysland School will have some staffing changes in the next month. Mrs. Walker will be starting her maternity leave immediately following the Christmas Break. She will be greatly missed, but we wish her well in her new role as Mom. When we have an announcement about her replacement, we will communicate that through School Messenger.

Also, shortly after Christmas Break, we will enter High School Exam season. We will share an exam schedule early in the new year. This is a reminder that Diploma Exams are worth 30% of the students' final grade. This is a return to the pre-Covid weighting for the exam. They have been worth 10% and 20% in the past two years.

PowerSchool Marks

This is a reminder to check PowerSchool for regular updates on your child’s progress. If you are experiencing any issues with accessing PowerSchool, please get in touch with the office. Also, some users have reported that they cannot access new marks. If you are experiencing this issue, you may need to change the time frame in the top right corner of the screen. Some users have needed to change their password on a desktop computer in order to fix the problem. If these solutions do not work, please let us know. If you have questions about your child’s marks, please check for assignment feedback and follow up with your child’s teacher if needed.

Our Volleyball season has come to an end, with all of our teams participating in their final tournaments. Well done to all athletes for representing our school and yourselves so well. Thank you to Ava G., Mrs. Cristin Zimmer, Ms. Kim Loesch, Mrs. Kierstan Reber, and Mrs. Tobler for coaching!

That also means our basketball seasons are starting! Practices have begun for Jr. and Sr. High players, and more information will come regarding Mini Slammers. This weekend we will be hosting our annual Ice Breaker Sr. Boys Basketball tournament. Our boys play at 1:00pm Friday! Come cheer them on!
