Caregiver Update
Watch us SOAR!
Dear Clough Families,
This final week before winter break was not exactly the start any of us were hoping for. Thank you caregivers for your support and understanding as the district had to make a difficult call canceling school this morning. It was certainly not ideal timing for anyone, but we lost power at Clough just as kids were beginning to arrive. And the weather proceeded to get worse. I want to thank the Clough staff, especially Julia Busby and Tracee Perkins in the office. They remained calm and manned the phones by cell phone flashlight as we had to rely on old school communication methods at one point of looking up phone numbers in our paper copies. Several staff assisted outside in the pouring rain, helping to let parents know what was going on. And even more staff in the building helped keep any students who were at school happy and occupied while they waited to be picked up. Thank you to the bus drivers for safely navigating new routes to get kids home safe and sound.
We have many different illnesses go around right now, including strep, flu, and COVID. As a result, I have made the tough decision to postpone our Family Math Night to a later date in January. Once we confirm the new date that will work, I will send out a message to everyone. We are hoping the winter break gives students and staff time to rest, recover, and get healthy.
We are still planning to do our book swap on the day before winter break, December 22. Reminder that it's a half day of school on Dec. 22. We have a box in the lobby to collect gently used books. Perfect time to clear off your bookshelves at home. The book swap will help all of our students go home over winter break with some new reading!
I hope that all of our Clough families enjoy the break and enjoy some quality time together. I know I am looking forward to spending time with my own children, my husband, and my father. See you all in the new year!
Sincerely,
Liz Garden
Clough Principal
