Dear Rolling Hills Parents and Guardians:
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!
I want to extend a warm welcome to all of our new and returning students. We are looking forward to a fabulous school year.
Our faculty and staff members have been diligently preparing all summer to ensure that your children will have an excellent school year. We recently hosted a successful Open House and welcomed a large number of students and their families to tour the school, visit their classrooms--and in some cases--even meet their new teachers! I would like to thank the staff members who assisted with this event and would like to also acknowledge the new Rolling Hills SCA Board members, who took valuable time out of theri busy schedules to create a lovely bulletin board and welcome our new families--and share some of their photos.
Thanks to Connect for Community's annual "Backpacks for Community" distribution, Rolling Hills still has some fantastic backpacks filled with basic school supplies. If you know of a young student or family who would benefit from the receipt of brand-new backpacks to start the school year, please call the Rolling Hills main office and we will be happy to assist you. Thank you for your assistance.
Please review all of the information in each monthly message so you can stay current with the upcoming events and spend some time enjoying photos from past events. We look forward to greeting your children on Thursday, September 7th and hope to see all of our parents/guardians that evening, beginning at 6:00. Please be sure to join us for an informative evening; since the evening will be focused on presentations for our parents and guardians, it is strongly encouraged that you attend the evening without your children if at all possible.
In an effort to start the school year with consistent routines, please note the following:
- This year, we will be strongly encouraging consistent attendance practices for our students each and every day. Please make every effort to have your student to school on time and to avoid early pick-ups each day. This information from Attendance Counts delineates the importance of regular attendance. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Your cooperation will ensure that everyone receives quality instruction--from bell to bell!
- If you are driving your child to school, please plan to arrive at Rolling Hills between 9:00 and 9:10 AM. Students arriving after 9:15 AM will be marked "tardy". When you arrive at the school, please follow the directives of the staff members who are outside assisting with this process. There is no need to park your car for morning drop-off, just drive up to the front door and your child may depart from your vehicle. If you could have your child ready to exit from the passenger side, that would provide a safer procedure for our students. Thank you for your assistance.
- If you are picking up your child from school, please visit Genesis and then follow the procedure below before noon on the day of the pick up. If your child is picked up each day, there is no need to follow this procedure daily, as they will be listed on the Daily Pickup List.
- When you pick up your child, you will need to park and walk to the front door of the school, where there will be a spreadsheet to sign out your child. Students will be called for pick-up dismissal at approximately 3:28 PM. We would sincerely ask your patience and understanding in waiting until 3:30 PM for your child to be dismissed from if you are picking them up from school. Please avoid all early pick-ups unless there is an emergency, as it is very disruptive to the dismissal process. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Although I strongly encourage you to reach out directly to your child's teacher(s) first regarding any issues pertaining to instruction or classroom routines, please be assured that I remain committed to every students' educational experience and encourage you to reach out to me if I may be of assistance throughout the school year.
Thank you for your dedication to your child's education and your anticipated cooperation.
With sincere appreciation,
Pauline F. Anderson, Principal
P.S. We will be mailing nametags for each student, which should arrive before the start of school. Please be sure to tie the nametag onto your child's backpack before the first day of school. It will help us guide your child to the correct classroom upon arrival and the correct bus at dismissal time. Thank you!
