Week of October 3, 2022
Arrival and Dismissal Update
As a reminder the doors close promptly at 8:55 and 12:45 for arrival. After that time you will need to bring your student in through the main office. Most classes are all present by 8:50 and 12:40. Please remember that as 3 & 4 year olds it is hard to wait in line for those coming at the end of the drop off times. We will be moving towards a 5 minute window for arrival by the start of January as the routine gets more and more comfortable for students.
Dismissal times have a 5 minute window. Dismissal for AM is 11:25 and PM is 3:10 for door 1 and 3:15 for doors 3 & 5. Please call us if you are running late as the students will be then moved to wait in the ELC office for you and will be brought to the main office when you arrive.
Thank you!

Meet the Staff
Ms. Chris- This is my 30th year teaching at the ELC and I continue to love what I do every day. I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education/Special Education and my master's degree in Early Childhood Education. My favorite thing about teaching is developing bonds not only with students, but families. I love keeping in touch with many of my students and witnessing their amazing achievements through the years. When not in school I love the outdoors and camping, playing with my newly adopted pup Piper and simply being with family. My husband Dan and I have two children Ashley and Austin who both got married during the Pandemic, and we are now expecting our first grand baby in March.
Miss Emily- I was a past preschool student of Ms. Chris' class many years ago, and have now been working with her for 3 years. My favorite things to do are going camping and relaxing with family. When not at school you will find me studying for my master's degree in Early Childhood Education.
Ms. Kim- I have been with Attleboro Public Schools for 30 years, working at the ELC for the past 9 years, I enjoy being with and caring for children, just like they are my own. My favorite color is purple. I love pickles and my two dogs Shylah and Shelton. When not at school she likes to craft and "sell the fish" at Portside Fish Market owned by her son.

Harvest Night
Students may contribute an item that is related to theme or they may contribute a few dollars towards the purchase of the item. Again contributions are voluntary and appreciated.
Please send in your contribution in Friday October 21st to ensure adequate time to assemble the baskets. Proceeds from the raffle of the baskets help to defer the cost of field trips and many special programs for the Thacher/ ELC students. A bin will be outside the ELC office during Welcome Back Night on October 12, 2022 if you would like to drop it off then.
The Autism Waiver Service
The DDS Autism Division runs a program for low-income children with autism called the Children's Autism Services Waiver Program. This program serves children under the age of 10 who meet both the clinical and financial eligibility that includes having/obtaining MassHealth Standard Insurance. The Autism Services Waiver Program allows children to receive Expanded Habilitation, Education, in-home services and supports, such as Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and Floor Time, for a total of up to 3 years. At the conclusion of the three years of the intensive in-home services, a child may access ongoing Supplemental Services (for example respite and goods and services, etc.) that meet the child’s needs until the child’s 10th birthday. Currently, the program serves approximately 400 children a year. While the program is near capacity, we are expanding the number of participants and there is a high rate of turnover in the program every year, so we looking to have a new pool of applicants to draw from to fill open slots.
The Autism Division is accepting new application requests for families interested in this program between the dates of October 14, 2022 and October 31, 2022. Applications must be postmarked or emailed from a parent/guardian no later than October 30, 2022.
Attached are copies of the Autism Waiver Program Open Request Application and Open Request Family Overview both in English and Spanish that can be shared with families. The application form, family notice and related materials in multiple languages are available on the DDS website https://www.mass.gov/dds-autism-waiver-service-program-overview
