Goal of the course
The goal of this class will be to understand geometry as a system with the use of logical reasoning to explain and solve problems. Understanding the relationship between geometry and algebra and how geometry assists algebra in developing solutions to problems is an expected outcome. Upon completion of this course, students will be ready to enroll in Algebra 2 or Advanced Algebra 2.

Test and Quizzes
Homework
Learning the Geometry concepts and skills will take practice. Homework serves this purpose. Assignments are made up of carefully selected problems to practice the skills learned in class and will be an important part of class instruction. Expect to have homework most days.
Homework from the week will be collected on Thursdays. Late work is accepted up to the day of the test over that unit for 60% credit.
Absences and Makeup Work
Makeup work for absences will follow the guidelines in the student handbook. You get the number of days absent plus one. Assignments will also be available on our class website. Missed work and tests due to absences will go into the gradebook as “ABS” which will count as a zero until made up.
Makeup work for scheduled school events must be turned in before or ON the day of your return. You are responsible for the assignment due the day you return.
Unless you miss a test review day, you will take the test on the scheduled day. There are NO test retakes.
Classroom Expectations
All policies in the handbook apply to this classroom. That goes for tardies, absences, etc.
This is a high school course. As such I expect that you will take the course seriously and behave in a mature manner. This means you are expected to:
· Be Respectful (Every individual in this classroom deserves respect, including you. Likewise, you will respect all property within the school).
· Be Responsible (You are responsible for your words, your actions, your attitude, your daily supplies, and your work).
· Be Ready (When the tardy bell rings, you need to be in your seat with your materials ready to go, working on the Bell Work).
· Participate You must ask questions, participate in activities, and practice in order to be successful.
Behavior: As high school students I expect you to require very little redirection with regard to behavior. If you are violating any of the above expectations or creating an environment that is unsafe or is distracting to others who are attempting to learn you will be given a warning. If your behavior is keeping others from learning, you will be asked to go to the office. Your parents will be notified of significant behavior issues. I sincerely hope I can focus all parental communication on positive achievements rather than behavior issues.
