What's Happening ?? !!

Dear Hawley Parents/Guardians,

I know it has been a while but for a while there has been very little happening, but that has all changed. First of all, Happy Chinese New Year! It is the year of the pig (although I keep writing chicken on my checks ;0)

Love has been in the air, we celebrated the 100th day of school, and the PTA provided a super Cultural Arts Performance. Middle schoolers returned to read and we've been able to get outside a little. We are collecting clothes for charity and making Valentine's for troops.

Here's What's Happening at Hawley.......

Former Hawley students, now in middle school, walked over and read to our current students. It was great to see them and they did a terrific job!!

There are Hawley families with relatives serving over seas. We made Valentine's Cards for them and sent them to military bases. They were beautiful!

Shaw Pong Liu took us on a musical journey through historical and contemporary China. It was a beautiful presentation and well-received.

• The Parent Portal is closed now through March 13. On that date it will re-open and Marking Period 2 Progress Reports will be available.

• Our School Messenger System is now able to include text messages. This feature will not be used for routine communication but for emergency use (along with email and/or phone). If you want this feature, go into the ParentPortal (when it re-opens) and sign up for it.

• I have heard that a new feature of Google Mail is the creation of a Promotional Inbox. Some parents have reported that school emails, including this newsletter, can go there by mistake. If so, you can go in and divert that email and future ones back to the everyday Inbox.

• We are still collecting Clothing for a needy school where a former Hawley student now works. Any and all donations are accepted and appreciated. The boxes are in our main lobby. Click Here for more information.

Custodian, "Grandpa" Don Roos, is embarking on a very special painting project in our Multi-Purpose Room with our Kindergarten. As we progress, I will continue to share some hints and at the end reveal the Final Product. Mrs. Albano's class were part of PHASE 3. It is very exciting...

• Monday, 2/25: District Kindergarten Parent Information Presentation for the parents of next year's K students. Reed School Cafeteria, 7:00 PM
• Friday, 3/1: Marking Period 2 closes
• Wednesday, 3/13: Progress Reports available via the Parent Portal
• Wednesday, 3/13: Early Dismissal for Teacher Professional Development
• Thursday and Friday, 3/14 & 3/15: Teacher Requested Parent Conferences
