AFFTON HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Homecoming week was a lot of fun and well deserved by the students. The football team suffered a loss, the weather threatned the dance..... BUT, again AHS Students rallied back.... Mother Nature cooperated, and the Homecoming Dance was successful! The students came together and had an absolutely wonderful time! The Cheers were so loud when the announcement was made that their new Royalty was named!

We started off last week with staff and students dressing the theme. Monday kicked off with Wacky Tourist Day. On Thursday, the 2nd. annual drive thru decorations was held. Each class had a theme and votes were tallied by the community. Students also decorated the classroom doors. Votes were tallied by students and staff: Here are the results:

The students had their fall PEP rally on Friday afternoon. It was beautiful weather and a great way to wrap up the week.

Starting this year, students tried out to EMCEE at our Affton events. For homecoming it was awesome that Al'Laya Smiley and Emily Seidelman took the microphone and announced the court. They did a fantastic job and the students loved hearing from their peers. Great Job Al'Laya and Emily!

Mother Nature did not start the day off in a kind way, but by 6:00pm she showed her beautiful colors and Homecoming 2021 was in full swing!

Tennis Districts started last Friday. Congratulations go to Aliyah Hernandez and Audrey Miklovic who came in second place in Individual District play as a first doubles team and earned a chance to competeat Sectionals. Congratulations to the second doubles team of Adna Muminovic and Lydia Wroughton who placed fourth at Districts. Last but not least, Tammy Jackson placed fourth in Singles District play! Congratulations Ladies!!!

Cross Country was at Hillsboro last Saturday. There were several PR's despite the sky opening up during the boys JV race. There was mud and gunk, but they had a good time!

The Varsity Volleyball team made a tremendous comeback against conference opponent Parkway North down 0-2 in a best of 5 to win 3 sets in row and take the match 3-2! Conference home match against McCluer North this Tuesday, JV and Fresh at 4:15, Varsity at 5:15.

SPEECH AND DEBATE WILL HOLD THEIR FIRST DEBATE TOURNAMENT ON OCTOBER 9. GOOD LUCK!

The boys Soccer team is on a roll. Come out today at 4:15 to cheer on the Cougars as they take on Windsor!

Herff Jones will have a table set up at the Parent Conferences from 4:30 - 7:30 on Tuesday, October 26, and Thursday, October 28, to assist with Senior orders and any class ring orders for Juniors or Seniors.

Fall Athletic Fees are $25 for the 2021-22 school year. This fee covers all three seasons at AHS. For those participating in a fall sport, there has been a $25 athletic fee added on their Tyler account This will need to be paid through the parents' Tyler account before the winter season. Students will not be allowed to participate in future sports until this fee is paid. All fines/fees will need to also be paid for seniors before they can graduate.
