SMS Stock Market Winners Attend Luncheon

Our SMS friends who won the regional stock market game were invited to a luncheon at the Statehouse Convention Center hosted by Economics Arkansas. The event was emceed by an anchor from Channel 11. SIS's team did a small presentation. An overall winning team from the high school category shared their experience. The keynote speaker was the CEO of Westrock Coffee, Scott Ford. He shared his story of business success. The advice that stuck with our students was to surround yourself with like minded people, winners hang out with winners, and to find a mentor who can give you good advice.

Capturing Kids Heart Word of the Month: Integrity

Some ways to talk to your student about integrity:

Acknowledge and affirm acts with integrity. Publicly praise students who model acts of integrity, such as honesty and honor.
Encourage students to identify people who show integrity. Use scenarios and role plays. Challenge students with real-life scenarios and situations that allow them to reflect, discuss, and choose the best next step or action.
Create a culture of accountability. Invite students to give you feedback. Empower students with choice-based consequences.

Summer Camp Opportunities

The following eleven programs will provide academic enrichment for students this summer to Arkansas students .

Student ID Badges

This semester, each student at SMS received a personal identification badge and lanyard to be worn each day at school. We have added these for streamlining processes such as lunches, library, transportation, and event attendance. Students will be required to wear their badge each day to identify them as a student at Sheridan Middle School, and replacement badges will cost the student $5. Please encourage our students to wear their ID badges daily. Thank you all for your support of SMS.

Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

Please watch this video that shows our drop off and pick up areas. Please do not drop off your student at the front door before 8:00 am. Students can be dropped using the street behind the school starting at 7:30 am. Please do not drive through the bus lane. This will ensure the safety of all students. Thank you for your help with this.
