A Message from Dr. Hicks
Hello Cougars,
Even though school is out for the summer, this time of year is busy for our staff. Principals are preparing for the coming school year, hiring new staff, and ensuring classrooms are ready to welcome back our students and teachers. The Teaching and Learning Department is working with teachers to update our Cougar Curriculum for the new school year and the Business and Finance Department is putting the final touches on our 2022-23 budget. Much work has been done, and many thanks to our Board of Trustees, to provide pay increases for our staff while also adding funding to our curriculum and instruction/professional development. More information about the budget can be found below this message.
Also happening this summer is the required review of the U.S. Census Data. Every 10 years the U.S. Census Data is released and school districts are required by law to review the data to assess changes in population and demographics. Jarrell ISD is in the process of redistricting with the purpose of redistricting being to balance the total Jarrell ISD population throughout the district. There are three proposed redistricting maps posted below and additional information that details the redistricting process and how it impacts you.
On all our minds is school safety and while much work was done this past school year to increase our district-wide safety and security measures which included high-tech security cameras, badge access controls, signage, and training, please know we are carefully combing our plans with local authorities. As we prepare for the coming school year, we are working with authorities and district personnel to update and refine plans and procedures for the new school year. As we update our plans, your voice to provide input and ideas is important to us so we would like to invite you to share on this form. Student and staff safety is our number one priority.
Cougar proud,
Dr. Toni Hicks
Superintendent
