www.gunterisd.org has a new look!
Our website was refreshed over the summer to make it easier for you to navigate. The menu bar has been cleaned up and changed into a box for you to view the entire selection all at once. The main page for each area of the website contains all the links you need to find what you are looking for. The Parent home page is a "one-stop-shop" for most items our Tiger parents are looking for.
The Announcement section is now the first section to see after the header. This area will be used primarily as reminders and announcements. Check it often!
News stories can be found beneath the Announcements. This section will be reserved for stories that highlight great things happening in our district.
As always, the Events Calendar is where you will find the events listed by date. There is a link for the Google calendar version at the very top of the website, or you can view the Events listing right after the Announcement section. Choose whichever method suits you best. The calendars are synced, so they will display the same events.
Please remember that event times/dates may change due to unforeseen circumstances. Please check the Event calendar or the Announcement section for changes in events.

Dear Gunter Parents and Seniors,
On Wednesday, August 2nd we will be set up at the high school to take senior yearbook portraits. (Location is still To Be Determined. The school will let you know before picture day.) These are the formal portraits that will appear in the yearbook and on the large class panel print that will hang in your school. We will be available from 9:00AM-Noon and 1:00-3:00 PM. You may do your session anytime during the hours listed. Students must show up no later than 2:45 to be photographed.
Please note there is no charge for this session if done on the scheduled date. It is mandatory that all seniors be photographed for the yearbook. Please take a moment to mark your calendar and make arrangements to be present for your session. We do not schedule private sessions in our studio for those that miss the scheduled date.
Garner Studio will furnish the clothing for your photo (tuxedo for men, and velvet drape for women). You need only show up properly groomed according to the school handbook. Please remember, you must abide by school policy concerning facial hair, jewelry, etc. – no exceptions. Ladies will be photographed with bare shoulders, so it would be helpful to wear or bring a tank-top or spaghetti strap top to your session. A garment will be provided for those who need it. Gentleman, please wear a t-shirt instead of a button up collared shirt.
Several photos will be taken of each senior. Your photos will be available for viewing online in about one week with instructions and a deadline to pick your picture for the yearbook. Pictures will be available to purchase on our website until June1, 2024. If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact Garner Studio at (940) 668-1422 and ask for Kip or Tammy.
Please note: On rare occasions we have seen students who were disappointed with their photographs because they didn’t take this session seriously or didn’t bother to show up for their original appointment. While we will have a stylist present to do minor touch-ups, you are responsible for your hair, makeup and attitude on picture day. We want this to be a fun experience, that’s why we are devoting all of our attention to Gunter High School Seniors on this date. There will not be an easier way to have your yearbook photos made, so we strongly urge you to take advantage of this session.
Good luck during the coming year and we look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
Kip Garner

The GISD School Board considers safety and security to be of utmost importance. This summer, they voted unanimously to add two additional police officers to our district staff. This means there will be one officer assigned to each campus.
These officers are responsible for the safety of our students and faculty. We hope you will give them a welcoming wave and smile if you see them during student drop off and pick-up times. We also ask that you abide by any requests made by our officers as they work to increase the safety measures in our district.

SUMMER-TIME SHOUT OUTS
Camp RYLA
Students from Gunter ISD are encouraged to apply for Camp RYLA, a Rotary sponsored leadership camp for incoming seniors. Students can take what they've learned at the camp during the summer back to their school as a senior and help lead other students in better decision making and personal improvement. This past summer, Jackson Rue was awarded a scholarship. Other Gunter Tigers (and also RYLA alumni) who were on staff for camp this past summer included: Keely Ward, Gray McDowell, Dylan Marsh, Kamber Puebla, and J Bailey. Coach Jeff Egger and his wife Becca (2004 RYLA alumni) were on staff as well. All juniors are eligible to apply for Camp RYLA in February 2024.
Congrats to Abby Elmore for winning the Texas Greatest Athlete Heptathlon. She broke Meet records in 1st day total (3370), High Jump (5’11.5), and Total Score (5376).

Summer Camp - Tigers in Training
Several camps were offered by our coaching staff throughout the summer. The coaches did a fantastic job planning and carrying out each camp. Kids were engaged, working on their skills, and having fun all at the same time! As an example, Coach Vansell worked on fundamentals with the 1st -5th graders and Elite skills for the 6th-9th graders. With 90 campers participating in his camp, we know that the future tigers are serious about working on their game!
Also, our GMS and GHS students participated in summer workouts and we are excited to see the results on the fields!
Here are a few pictures of the hard working Tigers in action during the summer.
