From the Principal's Desk
It's hard to believe we are nearing the end of October. I am excited for our upcoming school Fall parties on Friday, October 27th. Just a reminder that we cannot pass out gifts and treats at school. If you have something you'd like to contribute to the class party for your child, please contact a member of FTC. They would love donations for the classes and everything that gets shared to students needs to be approved through FTC.
The only exception we allow, is for your student's birthday! It is completely optional, but if you would like to bring a goodie to be passed out to your child's class in celebration of their birthday, they may do so as long as no food is included. Some possible ideas are: pencils, fun erasers, small trinkets and stickers.
Just a reminder that this year Halloween (10/31) is a half-day/institute day. There are no sessions of Preschool this day and students are dismissed at 10:50am. We will not be hosting a Halloween parade, and costumes should not be worn to school.
Please be on the look out this coming Monday for an email from your child's teacher regarding Parent Teacher conference sign ups. You will get an email with a link to sign up using the sign up genius platform for times on either Tuesday, November 7th or Thursday, November 9th. Conferences are held in person unless you request a virtual option. Please specify which you prefer when you sign up. I know teachers are excited to share with you all the progress your student has made so far this year!
One final reminder - next week is Red Ribbon Week! See our spirit day schedule below.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Scanlan

Veteran's Day
As in years past, we will be honoring the Veterans of our Salt Creek Community. If you have a Veteran in your family that you would like to be added to our Veteran Honor Wall outside the school office in November, please fill out this FORM to submit their picture.
We are also looking for verterans who would be available to visit our school on Friday November 10th and read to our students! If you are a veteran who would like to visit Salt Creek and read to students, please complete the same form above and Mrs. Clusky will reach out to you on behalf of our Veteran's Day committee.
Thank you!
What's Happening at Salt Creek
White Kane Day, Eldridge, and Yoga Oh My!
We have been busy at Salt Creek! On Friday 10/13 Mrs. Magnuson, our vision class teacher, gave a presentation to all K-1st classes about various tools her vision students use to help them learn. Students learned about using a cane and reading braille. In PE, students played Goal Ball with Mr. Hanus. They were blindfolded and had to rely on their other senses to score points! Kindergarten took a walking field trip to Eldridge Park. And Starlight Yoga returned for this month's youth yoga experience in PE.
IMPORTANT: Chromebook Care
Many classes have only recently begun bringing chrome books to and from school. We have had a large amount of repairs/damages to student devices. Please remember to care for your chrome books at home.
Some tips:
1) Choose a designated "Safe Place" where it stays when not in use. Bonus if the safe space can also be a charging location!
2) Keep all food and drinks away from your device
3) Use two hands when holding your chrome book (*Most of the damage we are seeing is from dropped devices!)
Labeling Items
Lost and Found
Please be sure to label your student's sweatshirts, coats, hats and gloves with their name. This is the best way to ensure a misplaced item gets back to you. We already have an abundance of items in the lost and found.
Nurse's Notes
Please make sure to call the Salt Creek Primary Absentee line at 630-832-6122, press *4 if your child will be absent or arriving late. The school office will retrieve these messages every morning. If you have any doctor's notes, please send those with your student for the nurse's office.

● Shortness of breath ● Fatigue from an unknown cause
● New cough ● Muscle or body aches from an unknown cause
● Sore throat. ● Body rash with itching and/or a fever
● Vomiting ● Eye infection/red irritated eyes
Your child is ok to return to school once:
● For body rash: absence of skin rash/irritation
● For eye infection: 24 hours after starting antibiotic eye drops/ointment
● All other symptoms mentioned above: once cleared by the school nurse to return (must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication, and no vomiting or diarrhea for at least 24 hours)

I Love U Guys ❤️
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted a new emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
Payments & Fees
TECHNOLOGY FEE
You can make payment for your child's school fees through RevTrak by signing on to Skyward. If you do not see a tech fee in RevTrak please contact the school office your child will attend. Please see below for RevTrak payments. You can also come in and make payment by cash or check to any school in our district.
Thank you in advance.
A New Way to Pay Fees in Skyward
NO MORE E-PAY! We have rolled out a new way to pay for lunches, school fees and activity fees for students. You can sign up here https://saltcreek48.revtrak.net/. Or you can go to your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.
Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
